Matt Haag was in a relationship with a social media personality Jenna Ezarik. After dating for a couple of years, Matt and Jenna broke up in 2018 due to personal differences. Matt is currently focusing on his social media career and his online store, ‘100 Thieves,’ which sells clothing. Matt Haag is a published author; he co-wrote ‘OpTic Gaming: The Making of eSports Champions,’ in 2016.
Matthew Haag was born on August 3, 1992, in Palos Hills, Illinois, United States, to Christina and Jeff Haag. He studied at ‘Amos Alonzo Stagg High School’ in his hometown. After graduating high school in 2010, Matt went to ‘Moraine Valley Community College.’ He completed a two-year Business Studies course in the college, before taking up a job at a McDonald’s restaurant. Thanks to his passion for gaming, Matt started competing in various gaming tournaments. He came up with his handle ‘Nadeshot,’ while playing the ‘Halo’ series, in which a lethal move is named ‘grenade shot.’ ‘Nadeshot,’ which was derived from ‘grenade shot,’ went on to become a famous handle in the gaming and social media sphere.
Matt Haag made his professional debut at the age of 16, when he got an opportunity to play ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.’ In June 2010, he joined hands with ‘OpTic Gaming.’ During the ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ 2011 season, Matt was dropped from the team, which encouraged him to play for several other teams. He even came up with his own ‘OpTic Nation’ team and started making videos on his YouTube channel, which he had created on June 8, 2010. During the 2010 – 2011 season he participated in many MLG tournaments, playing for teams like ‘Team EnVyUs’ and ‘Surreal Legacy.’ He rejoined ‘OpTic Gaming’ during the 2012 – 2013 season prior to the commencement of ‘Frag Cup 4.’ After strong performances in ‘Frag Cup 4’ and the subsequent tournaments, ‘OpTic Gaming’ eventually became the first ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ champions. When Will ‘BigTymer’ Johnson resigned in 2014, Matt was made the new captain of ‘OpTic Gaming.’ However, he gave up his captaincy when ‘OpTic Gaming’ finished seventh at the 2015 ‘Call of Duty Championship’ tournament. He also announced that he would be taking a break from competitive gaming. In 2016, Matt created his own gaming team, ‘100 Thieves,’ which plays multiple games at multiple events.
After taking a break from his gaming career, Matt Haag decided to focus on his social media career. His primary YouTube channel, where he posts video games-related videos and vlogs, has more than 3.1 million subscribers. In 2014, he came up with a secondary YouTube channel to post his gaming content. This channel has more than 972,000 subscribers and over 100 million views from all its videos. He is also popular on other social media platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter. While his Instagram page has more than 1.1 million followers, his Twitter account has over 2.45 million followers.
