Her family also includes her sisters Erin, Koren and Samantha Shelton. The actress attended the Eagle Rock High School and later on, majored in Film and Theatre from University of California, Los Angeles. Shelton got married to producer Beau Flynn in 2001. She has two daughters with him, West Flynn and Ruby Jeanne Flynn respectively.

Marley Shelton made her film debut in the year 1991 by playing the character of ‘Amanda’ in ‘Grand Canyon’. Before this, she had appeared in one episode of the TV series ‘The Family Man’. In 1992, she did a television movie titled ‘Up to No Good’ along with a few series including ‘Family Matters’, ‘Bodies of Evidence’, ‘Crossroads’, ‘Camp Wilder’ and ‘Great Scott’. The following year, the American actress’s name reached newer heights after she appeared in the 1993 flick ‘The Sandlot’. She also did a TV movie titled ‘Ambush in Waco: In the Line of Duty’ and a show named ‘Angel Falls’ during that year. After that, Shelton appeared in the movie ‘Hercules in the Underworld’ and TV films ‘A Friend to Die For’ and ‘Take Me Home Again’ respectively.

Her first major film role came in the year 1998 with the fantasy comedy titled ‘Pleasantville’. Although this flick didn’t find a broad audience in theatres, it received a substantial amount of positive reviews from critics. The years 1999 to 2001 saw Marley Shelton appear in several flicks, such as ‘Never Been Kissed’, ‘The Bachelor’, ‘Lured Innocence’, ‘Valentine‘, ‘Sugar and Spice’, ‘Bubble Boy’ and ‘On the Borderline’. After focusing on the studio features, the actress appeared in a variety of independent movies during the early 2000s.

In 2002, she did ‘Just a Kiss’ followed by ‘Dallas 362’, ‘Uptown Girls’ and ‘Grand Theft Parsons’ in 2003. Later on, in the year 2005, Shelton made a brief yet notable appearance in ‘Sin City’. Then she found larger attention for portraying the character of ‘Dr. Dakota Block’ in the horror film ‘Grindhouse’. After this, the American beauty took her first full-time TV role in CBS's ‘Eleventh Hour’ in 2008. This role took Shelton’s name and fame to even greater heights and she was offered a role in the comedy flick ‘Women in Trouble’ the next year, followed by its sequel ‘Elektra Luxx’. In 2014, the actress played a lead role in the television series ‘The Lottery’. The following year, she did the psychological thriller ‘Solace’ that grossed US$22 million.
