Marin Elizabeth Hinkle was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on March 23, 1966, to Margaret R. (Polga), a Justice of the Superior Court of Massachusetts, and Rodney Hinkle, a college dean and teacher. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Boston and subsequently the family welcomed their second child, her brother Mark.

Marin Hinkle started her acting career in theaters. She played the character of ‘Juliet’ in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington DC alongside Jean Stapleton in 1994. She then played important roles at the Broadway and the Broadhurst Theatre before playing the character of ‘Sandra Markowitz’ in ‘A Thousand Clowns’ at the Criterion Center Stage Right.

In 1995 she made her debut on television playing the role of ‘Alison Van Rohan’ in the NBC television soap opera ‘Another World’. She later appeared in a couple of television shows and films before getting her big break in the ABC television drama series ‘Once and Again’ in 1999 playing the role of ‘Judy Brooks.’ She portrayed this character in a total of 58 episodes.
