Mandela Van Peebles was born as Mandela Mali Van Peebles on June 4, 1994 in Los Angeles, California, USA to actor/director Mario Van Peebles and his wife Lisa Vitello. He has four siblings: Maya Van Peebles, Morgana Van Peebles, Marley Van Peebles and Makaylo Van Peebles. The grandson of American filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles and actress Maria Marx, Van Peebles is named after the first South African president, Nelson Mandela.
The actor attended Loyola Marymount University and graduated from there with a bachelor's in Communications in 2016. Talking about the actor’s love life, he dated actress/model Parker McKenna Posey in 2013.
Mandela Van Peebles made his acting debut in 2003 in the biopic ‘Baadasssss!’ This biography drama had initially been named as ‘How to Get the Man’s Foot Outta Your Ass’. Six years later, the actor did the short documentary film ‘Bring Your 'A' Game.’ In 2009, he made his first television appearance in ‘Mario’s Green House’, a reality show created by his father. Then in 2012, Van Peebles was cast in the leading role of Hendrix in the high school comedy film ‘We the Party’. That year, he also played Lookout Dunbar in the Direct-to-video ‘American Warships’.
The American actor then had a supporting role in the war flick ‘USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage’ in 2016. This movie was directed by his father. During this time, Van Peebles was also cast in a minor role in the drama miniseries ‘Roots’. Soon after this, he got the opportunity to play the role of Mitch in the horror movie ‘Jigsaw’.
