In 1998, Louise tied the knot with David Minchin. The couple have two kids named Mia and Scarlett. Currently, the Mincien family lives near Chester.
Other than her BBC commitments, Minchin is also associated with various charity organisations. She works closely with ‘SOS Children’s Villages’ which shelters orphaned kids. Minchin even turned into a crusader to support the organisation’s ‘Annual World Orphan Week campaign’.
In the recent past, she was actively involved in the activities of the ‘Sense - National Deafblind and Rubella Association’, and also interviewed celebrity Dave Hogan as a part of the ‘Deafblind Awareness Week’ event held in 2009.
Minchin is the daughter of a British Army Officer, and was born on 8 September 1969, in Hong Kong. Her father served as the Major of the Irish Guards regiment. She was originally named Louise Mary Grayson.
She completed her primary education from ‘St Mary’s School’, a Roman Catholic institution located in England. Minchin later moved to the ‘University of St. Andrews’; she graduated from the institution with a degree in Spanish.
Minchin grabbed the limelight after joining ‘BBC Radio Live’ in 1998, a national radio initiative of the British Broadcasting Television.
After working with the channel for five years, Minchin was promoted as the news presenter. She has appeared on BBC as a news reporter between 7PM to 10PM for a long time. Most of these news channel appearances were co-hosted by another famous British journalist Jon Sapel.
Minchin is well remembered by BBC folks for her contribution to the show ‘BBC Breakfast’. The opportunity came knocking at her door in 2006, during presenter Sian Williams’ absence. Minchin co-hosted the show along with journalist Kate Silverton, and continued being a part of the show even after Williams returned.
In 2008, Minchin was chosen to host the show ‘Missing Live’. The show was aired for four weeks during the first experiment. The show surfaced again during the next two years, both these seasons lasted four weeks each.
Minchin was given another new assignment in 2008. She was asked to host the show ‘Sunday Live’ on ‘BBC One’ along with news reporter Colin Jackson.
Though Minchin has hosted hundreds of episodes as a News presenter, she is most remembered for being an anchor of the show ‘BBC Breakfast’. She has been associated with the show for almost a decade since 2006.
Minchin received enormous visibility through this popular show. It was even announced by the press in 2011 that Minchin would be taking complete charge of the show after its venue shifts to the city of Salford.
