Leslie Mann got married to ‘Knocked Up’ producer Judd Apatow in 1997. The couple has two daughters named Iris and Maude.

Leslie Mann was born to single mother Janet Mann on 26 March 1972, in San Francisco, California. Her father had left her mother before she was born and she did not know him at all. Mann’s mother Janet, who worked as a real estate agent raised her.

The family moved to Newport Beach, California at some point during her childhood and that was where Leslie Mann grew up. She studied at the Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach and right from that time she developed an interest in acting. In fact, she started going to auditions while she was still in school.

Leslie Mann decided against continuing with her college degree in communications since she had decided to pursue a career in acting following her appearance in commercials for brands like Coke while she was still a teenager. She had also joined the Joanne Baron Studio in order to study acting. She learned acting from the comedy troupe The Groundlings as well.

Leslie Mann had started auditioning for roles in movies and in the year 1995 she got her first big break when the casting directors of the film ‘The Cable Guy’ chose her from among hundreds of candidates for the role of the female lead. The following year she starred in the movie ‘George of the Jungle’ in a minor role.

Following her debut, Mann appeared in the movie ‘Freaks & Geeks’ in a guest role and in 1999 she paired up with comedy star Adam Sandler in the movie ‘Big Daddy’, which was a success.

In 2002, she appeared in the movie ‘Orange County’ and following that she was also cast in the hugely popular Steve Carell starrer ‘The 40 Year Old Virgin’.

In 2007, Leslie Mann starred in the biggest hit of her career when she was cast in the romantic comedy ‘Knocked Up’ by Judd Apatow. The film which garnered global recognition and raked in more than $200 million catapulted Mann into the big league of the comedy genre. Her role in the film was widely appreciated.

The year 2009 saw Leslie Mann star in the film comedy ‘Funny People’ with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen. The film was one of the biggest hits of the year and collected in excess of $100 million worldwide. The film was rated among the top movies of the year by reputed publications and Mann’s role came in for particular praise. Two years later she starred in ‘Change Up’ with Ryan Reynolds, which was another comedy.

Leslie Mann is one of the most recognisable names in the romantic comedy genre and her film 2007 film ‘Knocked Up’ has to be the most important work of her career.
