Lauren Jauregui was born in Miami, Florida on June 27th 1996 to parents Mike and Clara Jauregui. Lauren has two brothers named Taylor and Chris Jauregui.
Lauren was good in studies and attended Carrolton School of Sacred Heart. She practised singing from a very early age and despite no guidance, she kept the flame inside her alive over the years. She is the eldest of her siblings and hence, was the most responsible since childhood.
Lauren has said that she was known as an ‘arrogant kid full of herself’ as kid and the tag even follows her now. She also added that neither did she care back then about it, nor does she now.
She was a music lover as a child and would listen to bands like Journey, Paraomore and The Scripts. She says that these three are the biggest influence for her musical career and even now, a day doesn’t go by when she doesn’t listen to their music.
Lauren hails from Cuban American descent and faced quite a share of bullying and racial discrimination. She used to draw whenever she felt lonely. When she was 10 years old, she attended a Hannah Montana concert, which she says changed her life for good.
Lauren Jauregui auditioned for the first season of American version of the singing reality show ‘The X Factor’ where she auditioned and didn’t show much of a promise in the early stages. However, her audition video became extremely popular afterwards garnering millions of views. Lauren was cut out on the boot camp, but she getting popular on the show and was eventually placed in the girl group which consisted of Camila Cabello, Ally Brook, Dinah Jane and Normani Kordei in July 2012.
Although the group, named Fifth Element enjoyed a massive popularity on the show, it did not turn out to be the winner and ended the show with third spot. After the show was over, Lauren and other members somehow decided to go their separate ways, but they hung on a while longer to see what could happen. And not much later, they caught the eyes of some big music companies and their career kicked off.
In January 2013, Lauren’s band signed a deal with Syco Music which happens to be owned by music industry Mogul Simon Cowell, and Epic Records, L.A. Reid’s music label. In those times, the band also gained an honour as Popdust Magazine’s ‘Next Pop Superstar of 2013’. It turned out later on that all the members of the band were also individually signed a deal with Epic Records. Lauren and her team members then started doing covers of popular songs and gained popularity on social media, particularly Youtube.
Lauren and her teammates released their first single ‘Miss Moving On’ in 2013 and immediately caught the public’s eye with their raw talent and immense energy. The song was later certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and the music video for the song rocked the MTV Music awards where it received ‘MTV Music Award for Artist to Watch”.
Lauren embarked in the Extended Play arena with the debut ‘Better Together’, which put them on the international page and cemented her place as one of the most talented young musicians along with her band. In the US Billboard 200, the play was at number six for the first week, which is a tremendous feat for the young artists.
In 2016, Lauren came out in the open and claimed that she is a bisexual, which took the fans of the star with immense shock given her very colourful dating history. She declared her bisexuality in an open letter to Donald Trump’s voters, which got published in the much covered magazine Billboard.
Although presently she is considered to be dating no one, but in the past she has been linked with numerous celebrities such as Keaton Stromberg, Luis Santos and Brad Simpson. She has admitted that she has a very soft corner for the musicians and she would like to marry one someday.
Her ‘egoistic’ approach has been quite a problem for her family and friends and there rumours afloat the she could be eliminated from Fifth Element soon. But the band has come ahead and trashed it as a petty rumour.
Lauren’s band has become quite a rage among the youngsters, which has led each member to have a fortune. Lauren’s net worth is considered to be 3.5 million dollar, which is phenomenal considering it is just the beginning of her career and she is just 21 years old.
