Laura Jane Haddock was born in Enfield, London, on August 21, 1985. She grew up in Harpenden, Hertfordshire and attended St George's School during that time. She later decided to study drama and enrolled at the Arts Educational School in Chiswick.
Haddock got married to the ‘Hunger Games’ star Samuel George Claflin in 2013, nearly two years after she started dating him. The couple has two children together. Their elder child, son Pip Claflin, was born on December 10, 2015, and their daughter was born in January 2018.
Laura Haddock made her acting debut on television with an appearance in the comedy special show ‘Comedy Showcase’ as ‘Nicky’ in 2007. She also played the character of ‘Melanie’ in the episode ‘Life Begins at Fifty’ of the British sitcom ‘My Family’ in the same year. In 2008, Haddock appeared in the fourth transmitted story in the BBC series of Miss Marple adaptations, titled ‘Marple: A Pocket Full of Rye’. She played the role of ‘Miss Grosvenor’ in the 85-minute long television film. Her first big break came in the same year when the makers of the British comedy-drama series ‘Honest’ offered her the role of ‘Kacie Carter’ in the series, which was a remake of the 2005 New Zealand series ‘Outrageous Fortune’.
She portrayed ‘Natasha’ on the ITV, UTV comedy-drama ‘Monday Monday’ in the first season of the show. Haddock made a very small appearance in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, the 2011 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Captain America. Though the role was a minor one, it did bring her to the spotlight which would later prove to be fruitful for her.
She played the critically acclaimed role of ‘Alison´ in the British coming-of-age comedy film ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ in 2011. The film was based on the E4 sitcom of the same title and Haddock’s role in the film earned her a nomination at the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer. Haddock was also part of the British sitcom ‘How Not to Live Your Life’ from 2009 to 2011, playing the role of ‘Samantha’ in fourteen episodes in those two years.
She again became a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when she was cast as ‘Meredith Quill’ in the first part of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film series in 2014. She played the role of Peter Quill’s (character played by Chris Pratt) mother who dies of cancer at the beginning of the film. She appeared again in the sequel of the film, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ in 2017.
She played a role in Michael Bay’s directorial venture ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’, the sequel of ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’. She portrayed ‘Viviane Wembly’, a professor of English literature at the University of Oxford, who is also the descendant of ‘Merlin’, King Arthur's wizard.
