Larry the Cable Guy was born as Daniel Lawrence Whitney on February 17, 1963 in Pawnee City, Nebraska, USA, to Tom and Shirley Whitney. From the late 1970s to 1980, he studied at The King's Academy in Florida. He then graduated from the Berean Christian School in 1982. Later on, Whitney attended the Baptist University of America and University of Nebraska.
Talking about the comedian’s love life, he got married to Cara in 2005. The couple has two kids together: son, Wyatt and daughter, Reagan.
Larry the Cable Guy began his career in radio in the year 1990, making regular radio appearances in shows, such as ‘The Ron and Ron Show’, ‘The Bob and Tom show’, ‘The Todd and Tyler Show’ and ‘The Chris Baker Show’. He later did commentaries for ‘Greg and the Morning Buzz’.
Larry the Cable Guy initially performed stand-up comedy under his real name, Daniel Lawrence Whitney. However, he got fame and success only after the creation of the Cable Guy character. He released his first comedy album titled ‘Law and Disorder’ in 1995. Two years later, he released his second album ‘Salutations and Flatulations’.
On October 30, 2001, the American comedian came out with his third album titled ‘Lord, I Apologize’. This album was certified Gold and hence was a huge hit. After this, Whitney released the albums ‘A Very Larry Christmas’ and ‘The Right to Bare Arms’ in 2004 and 2005 respectively. These albums too became successful and were followed by many other comedy albums including 'Morning Constitutions', 'Christmastime in Larryland', 'Tailgate Party' and 'The Best of Larry the Cable Guy'.
Whitney first appeared in the 2003 stand-up comedy concert film ‘Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie’. After this, he played Larry in the flick ‘Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector’ in 2006. The same year, he voiced Mater in the movie ‘Cars’. Soon after this, the actor did the movies ‘Delta Farce’ and ‘Witless Protection’. He reprised his voice role as Mater in the sequel ‘Cars 2’ in 2011. Two years later, the American actor appeared as Buddy in the film ‘A Madea Christmas’. Then in 2017, he once again voiced Mater in ‘Cars 3’.
