Melesha was born on December 15, 1989, in Kingshurst, Solihull, England. Her parents belonged to the Caribbean Isle of St. Kitts.
Melesha grew up in a family of rappers and musicians. In 2011, she stated that her mother used to play a lot of reggae such as Bob Marley and Sister Nancy.
Due to the musical environment of her house, O’Garro started writing and rapping at a very young age. She started writing poetry and rap songs at age six.
She was hardly 11 when she was influenced by mc’s in the era of UK Garage Scene. By the time she was fourteen, she had already started writing her own lyrics and even released a mixtape, titled ‘Needle in a Haystack.’
She funded her mixtape all by her own. Eventually, she adopted the stage name ‘Lady Leshurr’ and started performing in various rap battles all across the UK.
Her unique and vibrant performances drew a lot of attention, and soon she was signed by UK’s label ‘Colourful State.’ She supported Grime legend ‘Low Deep’ during his promotional tour for his debut album ‘Unsung,’ Leshurr started getting more recognition.
She also started performing on ‘BBC,’ ‘1xtra,’ ‘Kiss FM,’ and ‘BBC Asia.’ She received a lot of attention due to her unique grime and hip-hop style.
She made her official debut with the mixtape, titled ‘Unleshurr’ followed by ‘The Last Second’ in 2009. ‘The Last Second’ featured the song ‘Slow Flow.’
In 2010, she released her first EP, titled ‘Every Little Counts’ which consisted tracks such as ‘What Did They Say,’ Female Fire,’ and ‘Red Devil.’ In the same year, she dropped another mixtape under the title ‘1:21 AM.’
She released her next EP, titled ‘Off the Lesh’ in 2011, followed by two more mixtapes called ‘L Day’ and ‘Friggin L.’ In 2012, she dropped ‘2000 and L’ which consisted of tracks such as ‘Good God,’ ‘Bun Up,’ and ‘How We Roll.’
Lady Leshurr is also an actress. She played one of the female leads in 2009 British drama film ‘1 Day.’
