L was born as Kim Myung-soo, in Seoul, on March 13, 1992. He attended Duk-soo High School and later went to the Daekyung University from where he earned a degree in practical music in 2013.
L began his career in 2010, as an eighteen-year-old. He joined the boy band Infinite as one of their vocalists. A year later, he made his acting debut with a small role in the Japanese drama ‘Jiu Keishicho Tokushuhan Sousagakari’ which was shortly followed by another appearance in ‘Welcome to the Wara Store’. In 2012, he appeared in ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band’ which aired on tvN, and later in the same year, he appeared in SBS’s ‘Salamander Guru and The Shadows’.
As a member of Infinite, he contributed to the studio albums ‘Over the Top’ (2011), ‘Koi ni Ochiru Toki’ (2013), and ‘For You’ (2015). As a solo singer, he performed ‘Love U Like U’ (with Kim Yerim) which was featured in the soundtrack of ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band.’
In 2013, L appeared in ‘Master's Sun’ in which he played the younger self of ‘Joo Joong-won’. He released a photo essay book titled ‘L's Bravo Viewtiful’ on May 15, 2013 in which he portrayed a 93-day journey that he had undertaken. The book was sold through online stores as well as in general stores; it reached the number one spot in pre-orders on online bookstores like Kyobo and YES24.
In 2014, L, along with two of his band mates from ‘Infinite’—Sungyeol and Sungjong—joined the subgroup ‘Infinite F’ and released two albums: ‘Azure’ (a Korean album), and ‘Koi No Sign’ (a Japanese album).
L then appeared in ‘My Catman’, a Chinese-South Korean web-drama series, in 2016. He won the Seoul Webfest Award for his role. A year later, he appeared in ‘The Emperor: Owner of the Mask’, a South Korean television series starring Yoo Seung-ho, Kim Myung-soo, Yoon So-hee, Kim So-Hyun, Heo Joon-ho and Park Chul-min. L won two MBC Drama Awards in the category ‘Popularity Award, Actor’ and ‘Best Character Award, Fighting Spirit Acting’ for his work in the show.
