Birth Place

Kyle Myers was born on 9 May 1986 in Hart County, Georgia. His childhood interests included cars and action video games. Encouraged by his father, he developed a knack for deer hunting in his childhood. He first used a 22 caliber pistol at the age of five or six. His father had a collection of short and long range firearms. His father owned a farmhouse in the country side of Georgia, which he revamped with a $100,000 bank loan. This 60 acre farmhouse later on became Kyle's shooting location and testing stage for filming videos for the FPSRussia channel. His passion with guns and firearms paved the way for FPSRussia and other similar channels launched by him. Along with being a YouTube celebrity, he also has about 1.7 million followers on Facebook, 364k followers on Twitter and 78k followers on Instagram.

Personal Life

Kyle Lamar Myers was born in an upper middle class family in Georgia (US). His father owned a farm house in Lavonia, Georgia. Kyle got a job of a salesman in a car dealership house in his late teens. It was during this time that he came across a Russian coworker who spoke English with a heavy Russian accent. Kyle had a talent in mimicry and this is how the future 'Dmitri Potapoff of FPSRussia' started taking shape in his mind. In 2006 he started a YouTube channel named 'klm5986', in which he posted videos with commentary while performing a First Person Shooting with the pseudonym 'FPSKyle,' mostly as a 'Call of Duty' gamer.

Career

Four years later he took his YouTube career to an advanced level by putting forth a new channel in YouTube named 'FPSRussia'. In 'FPSRussia', Kyle posed as a professional Russian commando under the online name 'Dmitri Potapoff' and commented in English with a heavy Russian accent. As the character Dmitri Potapoff, he did a First Person Shooting at mannequins and various odd targets with real guns and military weapons.

Career

His channel had a roaring start with the support of his business associate Keith Richard Ratliff, who had a manufacturing and repair facility of firearms in Georgia. With his connections in the arms business, Keith was of tremendous help to Kyle in licensing and procuring all sorts of not-so-easy-to-get firearms. And what followed was history! Launched on 19 April 2010, ‘FPSRussia’ reached one million subscriptions by June 2011. As of June 2017, it contained more than 784 videos, over six million subscribers, and 785 million views. Kyle also has another channel named 'MoreFPSRussia', which has about a million subscriptions and 33 million views.

Career

The only controversy that is connected to Kyle's career is the death of his 32-year-old business partner and friend, Keith Ratliff. Ratliff had deep connections with the authorities in the arms licensing departments of the US Government. He was responsible for arranging and procuring all kinds of special firearms and weapons used in FPSRussia. He held an arms license from ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) for FPS Industries Global LLC to import, manufacture, and sell any kind of destructive firearms. He was the heart of FPSRussia.

Controversies & Scandals

On 3 January 2013, Ratliff was found dead in his Carnesville (Georgia) office, shot execution style three times at the back of his head. The bullets fired at him did not match with the pile of firearms scattered around him. Speculations run that the murderer might have been a close associate of Ratliff, because he did not attempt to defend himself with any firearm available with him. The ATF, FBI and GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) conducted an investigation. But no arrests have been made so far.

Controversies & Scandals

Following the murder, the ATF and GBI made a futile raid on Kyle's father's farmhouse and family establishments in Georgia on 26 March 2013 for suspected possession of any illegal explosives or weapons. Due to these happenings, FPSRussia was temporarily suspended till January 2014. Again it resumed broadcasting as usual with Kyle Myers at the helm until April 2016. However, the channel came to a standstill once again after that.
