Kerri Strug was born as Kerri Allyson Strug on November 19, 1977, in Tucson, Arizona. She has an older sister, Lisa, as well as an older brother, Kevin. She studied at Green Fields Country Day School and then enrolled at UCLA. She later transferred to the Stanford University and earned her bachelor's degree as well as master's degree from there.
On April 25, 2010, Strug got married to attorney Robert Fischer in Tucson, Arizona. On March 1, 2012, she gave birth to a son, Tyler William Fischer. Then in 2014, the couple had another child, a daughter, Alayna Madaleine.
At the age of three, Kerri Strug starting training in gymnastics and began competing in the sports at the age of eight. She eventually joined the United States National Team and in 1992, her team won the bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics. In a 1994 event, she suffered from a bad injury that required extensive rehabilitation. After this, she became a part of the bronze medal-winning US team at the 1995 World Championships and ranked 7th in the AA (All-Around competition).
Strug then became a part of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ US team for the 1996 Olympics and won a team gold medal at the event. Her performance in the final vault at the Olympics made her a national sports hero and she got featured in several television talk shows later on. Strug also got the opportunity to visit the then-President Bill Clinton.
After retiring from gymnastics, she joined the Tom Matsumoto Elementary School and started teaching there. She then served at the White House Office of Presidential Student Correspondence as a staff assistant and later on worked at General Counsel in the Treasury Department. In March 2005, Strug became a presidential appointee at Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention department office. Previously, she had also served as a Yahoo! correspondent at the 2004 Summer Olympics. In the year 2008, the American former gymnast appeared in a few commercials.
