In 2008, Katie Morgan met her future husband James Jackson. They were both in relationships at the time, so just a friendship developed. Months later, on another movie set, they met again and each found that the other was single by then. Morgan did not have to tell him what she used to do for a living as he already was well aware of her history. They got married in 2009.
Katie Morgan was born on March 17, 1980, in the Reseda neighbourhood of Los Angeles, California. Raised in an extremely religious family, she was homeschooled and had a troublesome childhood.
When she was 20 years old, she was caught by authorities while trying to smuggle 100 pounds of marijuana into the United States through the Mexican border. Subsequently, she was incarcerated for the next four months at Arizona’s Douglas County Jail.
After being behind bars for four months, Katie Morgan got out on bail and was waiting at home for her court dates. She watched a lot of adult movies during this period and the idea of joining the industry suddenly came to her. Taking the initiative, she reached out to an established adult movie star whose number she had found while rifling through a friend’s Rolodex.
The adult movie star gave her the contact information of an agent and advised Morgan on the dos and don’ts in the industry. She has since called the exchange as “the best advice anyone's probably ever given” her in her life.
Morgan did not think that she would become a household name in those early days. She just wanted to do a few movies and make some money before she went to jail. Her scene in Ed Power’s ‘Dirty Debutantes 197’ not only helped her pay off the bail and plea bargain but also incited a desire in her to pursue a full-time career in adult film industry.
Over the next seven years, she built up her filmography with projects such as ‘Black Cravings 4’ (2001), ‘Babysitter 10’ (2002), ‘Mary Carey on the Rise’ and ‘Another Man's Wife’ (2007). In 2008, she retired from the business but the official announcement came a year later.
In 2002, Morgan formed a long-term partnership with HBO. She hosted a number of shows for them. Morgan even made a guest appearance as herself in 2008 on HBO’s comedy-drama ‘Entourage’ (2004-11).
At the 2005 XRCO Awards, Morgan won the Unsung Siren Award.
In 2013, she was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame.
