Katee Sackhoff

Katee Sackhoff has been in a relationship with New Zealand actor Karl Urban since 2014.

She was once diagnosed with thyroid cancer following which her thyroid was removed through surgery. She is healthy and cancer-free as of today.

She takes to adventure sports like motorcycle riding and snowboarding when she is not shooting.

Katee Sackhoff was born Kathryn Ann Sackhoff on 8th April 1980 in Portland, Oregon, US to Dennis and Mary Sackhoff. Dennis Sackhoff is a land developer while Mary Sackhoff is a coordinator for English as a second language program. She has an older sibling Erick Sackhoff who owns a vehicle customization shop around Portland.

She pursued graduated from ‘Sunset High School’ in Beaverton in 1998. As a child she was deeply interested in sports and took up swimming at an early age; however, she could not pursue it for long due to an injury in the right knee.

In order to cope with her injury she took up yoga, and continues to practice it even today. She attended Santa Monica College for a while, but decided to opt out to pursue her career in acting.

Katee Sackhoff landed her first role in the American television drama film ‘Fifteen and Pregnant’ (1998), where she played the supporting role of a teenager Karen Gotarus alongside Kirsten Dunst.

Over the ensuing years she played various roles in television in ‘Locust Valley’ (1999) and ‘Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane’ (1999). After playing minor roles in these projects, she portrayed more substantial roles in the TV series ‘Undressed’ (2000) and ‘The Fearing Mind’ (2000-01).

Her movie debut came in 2001 with the film ‘My First Mister’ directed by Christine Lahti, where she played the role of Ashley. The same year, she received a running role in the American drama series, ‘The Education of Max Bickford’ (2001-02), where she played the role of Nell Bickford alongside actor Richard Dreyfuss.

Katee moved up in her career playing a role in the horror flick ‘Halloween: Resurrection’ (2002), but her big break came with the miniseries ‘Battlestar Galactica’ (2003), where she played the role of Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace.

From 2003- 07, she acted in various television series like ‘Boomtown’ (2003) and ‘Cold Case’ (2004). She reprised her earlier role in the TV series ‘Battlestar Galactica’ (2004-09).

Despite her appearances in various movies and television series, Katee Sackhoff is primarily known and admired by the audience for her part in the long-running television series ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and ‘Longmire’.
