Karl Glusman

Karl Glusman was born on January 3, 1988, in the Bronx borough, New York. He has a younger sister Liz Glusman. His family later moved to Oregon when Glusman was just six months old.

He was previously in a relationship with Juliette Maillot, which ended in 2016. He is currently in a relationship with the actress Zoe Kravitz, and the duo has been together since 2016. In October 2018, Zoe let it slip that they have been engaged for over six months and had kept it a secret. Glusman’s social media presence, which is limited to Instagram, often involves candid photographs of him and Zoe together.

Karl Glusman realized he wanted to become an actor while studying at Portland State University. He decided to drop out and enroll himself in various acting courses to pursue his dream. He first attended the Portland Actors Conservatory and then moved to New York to join William Esper Studio. His career in the entertainment industry started when he appeared in various commercials, including a TV advertisement for Adidas. He also made a minor appearance in the 2008 film ‘The Iconographer’. After this, he landed a recurring role in 2011 when he was cast as Yoming in the mini TV series ‘No. 6.’ Karl appeared in all of the six episodes. He didn’t have much luck in the next couple of years and was only seen in two short films, ‘Blow Up’ (2012) and ‘Summer House (2013).

His breakthrough moment arrived when he moved to France and was introduced to Gaspar Noe, an Argentinian-French film director. Gaspar subsequently cast Karl in ‘Love’ (2015), a movie that broke conventional sexual boundaries. Owing to its controversial storyline, the movie was widely spoken about by the critics. It debuted at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival amidst much fanfare. During the Cannes film festival, he met Tom Ford, a fashion designer and movie director. Ford, who was impressed with Glusman’s acting skills, decided to cast him in his upcoming movie ‘Nocturnal Animals’ (2016). In the interim, he appeared in several other films, such as ‘Stonewall’ (2015), ‘Embers’ (2015), and ‘The Neon Demon’ (2016). He was also seen in an episode of the TV series ‘One Bad Choice’ as Cooper Lund in 2015.

Glusman’s next biggest role came when he was cast as Sam Duffy in the Netflix original ‘Gypsy’ (2017). His co-stars included acting stalwarts such as Naomi Watts, Billy Crudup, and Sophie Cookson. The series was successful and critically praised by many owing to its different story. Karl is currently working on several projects that are scheduled for release in 2019. He will be seen in the thriller movie ‘Above Suspicion’ and in the drama movie starring Tom Hanks titled ‘Greyhound’. He has also been announced as the lead for the thriller TV series ‘Devs’, which is scheduled to be released in 2020.

He was influenced by Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner and decided to become an actor after reading their books.
