Jonathan’s dive into popularity was never an anticipated one- not for him or for his initial viewers. In his pilot year on YouTube, JonTron hosted a series that gave out standard reviews of the game ‘Daikatana’ and its ‘Nintendo 64’ version. But somehow the audience didn’t really connect and the series saw a lateral downshift in popularity. However things slowly fell into place when this young man decided to reboot his series with more originality and even introduced his pet parakeet in his videos. And with this, Jonathan’s installments became popular especially after some users appreciated his game reviews on portals like ‘Reddit’. JonTron soon delved into much more than just standard reviews, and even incorporated comedy sketches while reviewing major video game adaptions of franchises like ‘Barbie’, and ‘Conan, the Barbarian.’ And the kind of boom that ensued from his later installments of movie reviews and skits is what laid the foundations of his present day success.
In the following years, JonTron took his channel to a whole new level by releasing spin-off web series that featured other famous internet celebs like Markiplier, Nathan Barnatt, Egoraptor and so on. His channel’s popularity soon spread like wildfire especially now that JonTron is seen collaborating with h3h3productions, and even featuring on ‘James and Mike Mondays.’ Jonathan’s achievements do not end here- he has done a voice-over for ‘Did You Know Gaming?’ and even covered the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off series called ‘The Film Theorists’ on YouTube. He has also co-founded the website ‘NormalBoots’ with Austin PeanutButterGamer and is now seen with additional video game centered channels like Satchbag’s Goods and ProJared. With such incredible accomplishments going on, no wonder his channel is now a home to all gaming and movie buffs, standing at 3 million and counting!
If there was one thing that his audience would unanimously agree on, it’s that his sense of humor and ability to laugh at himself is unparalleled and adds as a bonus to his channel. Jonathan’s insane gaming skills and his hilarious commentaries and sketches will have you in stitches in no time; that in itself being the primary reason to what makes him special.
Even though JonTron can be hailed as a movie and game geek, there are other aspects that he has tried his hand at too! Mr. Jafari had appeared in the acapella cover of ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ produced by Pepsico, which was released to promote the 2013 World Series. In the year 2016, Jonathan released an album with the Gregory Brothers called ‘Love is like drugs’, and even released a reprised version of Katy Perry's song ‘Firework’ on his channel.
