Jonathan Banks was born as Jonathan Ray Banks on January 31, 1947 in Washington, D.C., USA. His mother Elena Banks was a professor at the Indiana State University. He studied at Indiana University Bloomington before dropping out to join a touring company as a stage manager.
In 1968, Banks married Marnie Fausch. The couple broke up in 1970 and the actor eventually married Gennera Banks in 1990.
Jonathan Banks first performed on stage in 1974 before venturing into television as well. He then appeared in the 1976 drama series ‘Barnaby Jones’ as well as the TV film ‘The Macahans’. He then appeared in the movies ‘Coming Home’, ‘The Cheap Detective’, ‘Who'll Stop the Rain’, ‘The Rose’, ‘Airplane’ and ‘Stir Crazy’. In 1981, the actor was cast as Dutch Schultz in the drama ‘The Gangster Chronicles’. A year later, he did the movies ‘Frances’ and ‘48 Hrs’. Soon after this, he got featured in the series ‘Hill Street Blues’.
In 1984, Banks played Zack in the flick ‘Beverly Hills’. The following year, he played the character of Kommander Nuveen Kroll in the drama ‘Otherworld’. After this, he got featured in the TV series ‘Falcon Crest’ in 1987. The same year, he was cast as Frank McPike in the series ‘Wiseguy’. A year later, the American actor lent his voice to the character of Pin for the movie ‘Pin’.

The same year, he did the flick ‘Puff, Puff, Pass’. He was then cast as Mike Ehrmantraut in the drama series ‘Breaking Bad’ in 2009. After finishing the series, the actor lent his voice to various characters of ‘Axe Cop’. In 2014, Banks appeared in the series ‘Community’. The same year, he also got featured in the movies ‘Bullet’, ‘Authors Anonymous’ and ‘Horrible Bosses 2’. After this, he joined the cast of ‘Better Call Saul’ and ‘Skylanders Academy’.
