According to some sources Gatto might have performed in a play while in his 7th grade in school and participated in video game tournaments during his high school days. He wanted to get associated with movies and hence enrolled in a film school. A gifted musician, Gatto later forayed as a multi-instrumentalist, freestyle rapper, beatboxer and music producer. His musical pursuits include releasing the song ‘Nutella on Everything’ on iTunes.

He gained prominence with his YouTube channel ‘Joey Gatto’ that he launched on November 30, 2012. The channel predominantly features man on the street videos, vlogs and of course some great rap music. Some of his early videos that garnered attention include ‘Harlem Shake (Retirement Home Edition)’, ‘What Would You Do For A Dollar?’ and ‘Explain that pic! ft. Joe Santagato’. With time the channel where he uploads new videos every week started enjoying more viewership and popularity and presently has amassed over 193 K subscribers with a viewership count of more than 5.9 million. The most popular videos of his channel includes ‘If Young Metro Don't Trust You...’, ‘What Would You Do For A Dollar?’, ‘Do You Even Vape?’ and ‘The Truth About Jc Caylen’ among many others.

Besides his own YouTube channel ‘Joey Gatto’, he is also one part of the collaborative channel ‘Settle Down Kids’ on YouTube that was launched on June 22, 2013. The other members of this channel which is mostly known for posting funny and prank videos include Josh Sobo, Ryan Abe, Jonah Green, and brothers Nick Buongiovanni and Adam Buongiovanni. YouTube star Joe Santagato left the group in 2015. The most popular video of the channel is ‘LEG WAXING CHALLENGE W/ TWAIMZ’ that featured YouTube star and Vine sensation Twaimz. Other popular videos of the channel are ‘How Do Youtubers Make Money?’, ‘Chance the Rapper - Cocoa Butter Kisses (Cover) Jonah’ and ‘How to Hack Twitter Accounts’ to mention a few. Gatto is known to upload posts on the channel every Monday. The channel is gradually gaining popularity and has already garnered more than 211 K subscribers and accumulated a viewership count of 15.7 million.

Other than YouTube, Gatto has also remained active and gained attention in many other social media platforms. He joined Twitter in August 2009 and describes himself as musician, machine learning enthusiast, calc tutor, former youtube person [LTC] in his Twitter account ‘JoeyGatto’. The account has so far amassed around 112 k followers. On the other hand his Instagram account ‘joeygatto’ with 785 posts at present has also garnered 70 K followers.

He was born on January 24, 1994 in Morristown, New Jersey, United States. Not much is known about his parents and family background excepting that he has three half-siblings from his father’s side, a brother and two sisters. According to sources, he remained class president during the four years of his high school and became the graduation speaker as the senior class president. The past or present romantic associations and dating status of Gatto also remains unknown.

Gatto thinks hats make him look stupid. He feels smile is the favourite part of a girl. There are rumours that he once got detention after he kissed a girl in the costume closet while acting class was going on. He once went to school wearing jeans of his mother. He has a crush on American actress Victoria Justice and also looks up to American singer-songwriter John Mayer, English singer song-writer Liam Payne, American musician Stevie Wonder and American rapper Tyler The Creator.
