Jocelyn Howard was born on February 5, 1985, in Los Angeles, California, the United States of America. Her father, Ron Howard, is an acclaimed actor and filmmaker. He garnered initial fame for portraying young Opie Taylor, Sheriff Andy Taylor’s son, in the situational comedy ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ (1960-68) and later began appearing in films, such as the musical drama ‘The Music Man’ (1962) and the comedy ‘The Courtship of Eddie's Father’ (1963). In 1974, he portrayed teenager Richie Cunningham in the sitcom ‘Happy Days’ for the first time and would continue to play the character until 1980 before leaving the show to focus on his work as a director.
Ron Howard is one of the most accomplished filmmakers in the industry today. He has directed movies, such as ‘Apollo 13’ (1995), ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ (2000), ‘A Beautiful Mind’ (2001), ‘Cinderella Man’ (2005), ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (2006) and its sequels, ‘Angels & Demons’ (2009) and ‘Inferno’ (2016), ‘Frost/Nixon’ (2008), and ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ (2017). He won the Academy Awards for Best Director and Picture for ‘A Beautiful Mind’ in 2002.
Jocelyn’s mother, Cheryl, is a renowned author whose body of work includes ‘In the Face of Jinn: A Novel’ (2005), ‘Heart & Desire’ (2005), and ‘Grandma, Tell Me a Story: Children's Devotional Stories from the Farm’ (2014). She has also appeared in several of her husband’s films.
Ron Howard has stated that unlike her sisters Bryce and Paige, who love acting, Jocelyn is pursuing other things. However, in 2018, she appeared in the season five episode ‘Emotional Baggage’ of Netflix’s situational comedy ‘Arrested Development’ along with her twin.
