Jo In-sung dated fellow actress Kim Min-hee for 18 months from early 2013 and they ended the relationship in September 2014 due to their hectic schedules and individual differences. He is rumored to be still dating Kim Min-hee, though it is not confirmed.
The actor is pretty close to fellow actor Song Joong Ki and is rumored to have played the cupid in Song Joong Ki’s love story with actress Song Hye Kyo.
In a television show, he expressed his desire to get married soon and stated that his ideal woman would be a gentle woman.
Jo In-sung was born on 28 July 1981 in Gangdong district in Seoul, South Korea.
After studying modelling and events management at Chunnam Techno University, he joined Dongguk University for a major in Theatre and Films. However, he was expelled from the university in 2007 due to insufficient attendance.
Jo In-sung made his debut as a model in the entertainment industry in 1998 for Ziozia, a clothing brand. He made his acting debut in 2000 through ‘School 3’ which was a South Korean teenage drama series. He also appeared in the South Korean sitcom ‘New Nonstop’.
He acted in a supporting role in SBS’s romance series ‘Piano’ in 2001 and as a lead in the drama ‘Shoot for the Stars’ in 2002 in which he played the role of an illiterate person. He made his film debut in 2002 in the movie ‘Public Toilet.’
He starred in the romantic melodrama movie ‘The Classic’ in 2003 as ‘Sang-Min’. In the same year he acted in two other romantic movies called ‘Madeleine’ in the role of ‘Ji-Seok,’ and ‘Love Impossible’ as ‘Kim Cheol-Su’.
In 2005, he appeared in the drama series ‘Spring Day’, a Korean version of the Japanese series ‘Hoshi no Kinka’ which means ‘Heaven’s Coins’. He did a period movie titled ‘A Frozen Flower’ playing the role of a royal bodyguard caught up in a love triangle.
On 15th and 22nd March 2008, he made appearances in the episodes of ‘Infinite Challenge’, a comedy show aired on MBC. The purpose of these episodes was to motivate the national team to give their best at the Olympics that year.
Jo In-sung made a comeback to the television industry in 2004 through ‘What Happened in Bali’, a melodrama series aired on SBS that became an instant hit with an average rating of 39.7% in the final episode. Jo received the best actor award for this series at ‘SBS Drama Awards’ and ‘40th Baeksang Arts Awards’ that year.
He starred in the lead role in the movie ‘A Dirty Carnival’ in 2006 which was directed by renowned filmmaker Yoo Ha. In this movie he played the character of a charming gangster in pursuit of a happy life. He received the best actor award for this movie at the ‘5th Korean Film Awards’ and ‘4th Max Movie Awards’ in the same year.
