Jessica Dime was born Jessica Chatman on January 27, 1986, in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. Her mother was an English teacher and it inspired her to write her own lyrics. She studied at the ‘University of Memphis’ and then at ‘LeMoyne-Owen College’. She was studying business administration when she quit college to become a dancer. She is quite secretive about her dating life and has dated rapper Lody Lucci in the past. On April 6, 2017, she revealed her engagement to NBA star Shawnee Williams.
Jessica Dime started her career as a dancer/stripper at the ‘King of Diamonds Nightclub’ in Miami. It was the same club which resulted in the stardom of Black Chyna and Shenilla Bettencourt and she started making more than US$10,000 a week. However, it was only a means to an end for her as she wanted to use her dancing skills to embark on a career in hip-hop music. With the saved money, Jessica recorded demos like ‘The Diary of a Dimepiece (Prelude)’, ‘The Diary of a Dimepiece Chapter 1’, and ‘The Diary of a Dimepiece Chapter 2’. Her videos garnered the attention of singer-producer Flo Rida who signed her under his label ‘International Music Group’. Her only popular release around this time was ‘Jessica Dime aka Dimepiece - Nickel & Dime’ which was mostly the result of her own hard work. Although the deal was for three years, they separated ways as Dime felt Flo Rida was more concerned with his own career. In 2014, she returned to stripping but only for a short while.
In 2015, Jessica Dime got her first major break when she started making guest appearances as herself on the reality TV series ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: After Party Live!’. She was seen in the episodes ‘After Party Live!403’ and ‘After Party: Live!411’ and quickly made a name for herself. The same year she released the single ‘Disrespectful’ which was received well by her fans. Dime made her debut as part of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’ on April 20, 2015. Her charm and screen presence soon made her a series regular and she continues to be a recurring member in 2017.
She has also been seen as herself on the series ‘K.Michelle: My Life’ (2016), in the episodes ‘Piper Takes the Pole’ and ‘London Calling’. Jessica was also a contestant on the TV show ‘Hip Hop Squares’ (2017) and appeared in the episode ‘The Devil You Know’ of the series ‘Star’ (2017). In spite of her initial struggles, the young rapper-actress has been making waves in the entertainment industry. She is also focusing on her musical career and released the singles ‘Hustle’ and ‘100SHOTS’ in 2017. Her music video of the single ‘Panda/Queenin’ has received over 1 million views on YouTube.
She is the owner of ‘The Pinkpiece Collection’ a range of hair extension products. She has said that the products in the collection are aimed at taking away the need to cause any damage to natural hair due to experimenting with different colors.
On September 2016, she was involved in a spat and social media argument with ‘Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta’ co-star Dawn Heflin after Jessica claimed that Dawn was bankrupt. They have not been able to resolve their differences. On December 2016, the actress was left shocked when her ex-boyfriend Memphis Rapper Lody Lucci released a sex-tape of them together, out of jealousy as she had started dating someone else.
