Jep Robertson

Jep Robertson initially started working as a camera operator for his father’s company Duck Commander. He spent years filming the ‘Duckmen’ DVDs. At times, he also makes the signature product of their company, duck calls, from wood logs. He first appeared on television in the show ‘Duck Commander’ on the Outdoor Channel in 2009. He was also the production manager of the show and worked on the camera and the electrical department. However, he became popular on television along with his family following his appearance on the reality series ‘Duck Dynasty’ in 2012. The show went on to become the most-watched nonfiction cable series in history with a record-breaking 11.8 million viewers on its fourth-season premier.

Jep Robertson has not had the best childhood despite being born into a renowned family. When he was only six, he was molested by an older girl while travelling in the bus of his grade school, which also allowed high school students to take a ride. The incident not only made him feel awkward, but also encouraged him to often skip school feigning illness.

At the age of 18, he made friends with the wrong people and became addicted to drug and alcohol. Fortunately, his family stood beside him and helped him get over the addiction. His older brother Willie one day left a note on his truck telling him that they needed to talk. When he reached his parents’ home the next day, all his brothers were present there, and his father, instead of admonishing him for going astray, gently asked him if he was ready to change and become a family man or wants to go on his own way. The incident did change his life as the “prodigal son” improved his lifestyle and returned to his family. Along with his wife Jessica, who also had her own problems at a young age, he co-authored the book ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Grace of God: What Honesty and Pain Taught Us About Faith, Family, and Forgiveness’, in which they chronicled their negative experiences and how they came out of that phase with the help of religion.

He is involved in charity work and has represented his family at the Duck Dash fundraiser event many times. At the charity event, he often starts the race and also distributes the awards. The money raised through the event is donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children. He, and his wife, also worked with the fashion label, Corello, to raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Jules Jeptha "Jep" Robertson was born on May 28, 1978, in Bernice, Louisiana, United States. He is the fourth and youngest son of ‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch, Phil Robertson, and his wife, Marsha Kay Robertson, and the nephew of Si Robertson. He has three older brothers: Alan, Jason, and Willie. Being born into a devout Christian family, he is deeply religious. Like the other male members of his family, he also sports a long beard. As a member of the Robertson family of the ‘Duck Commander’ fame, he learned to hunt as a child and was interested in a number of outdoor activities.

He met his future wife, Jessica Pamela Strickland, in March 2001 while visiting their mutual hair stylist. The initial meeting ended in exchanging pleasantries only, but the two bumped into each other once more a week later at a concert. Jep baptized her in April and the two started dating in June. They got married on October 7, 2001, after a few months of dating. They together have three daughters and two sons, including four biological children Lily, Merritt, Priscilla, and River, and one adopted son named Jules Augustus a.k.a. "Gus".
