Birth Place

Jeffrey Miller was born on October 12, 2000, in Norfolk, Massachusetts to Jeff and Cindy Miller. He has two brothers, dePaul and Ronan. According to his parents, Jeffrey was a Wiggles fan as a three-year-old boy and used to sing their songs with a toy microphone. He first performed on stage in a school production of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’, in which he played Bob Cratchit. He is a natural showman; his mother has stated that he was always an entertainer, he just needed an audience.

Personal Life

Miller has been dating fellow Massachusetts singer Karina Rae. They have collaborated on several songs, including the covers of Frank Loesser’s ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, ‘Reflection’ by Fifth Harmony, and Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez’s ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’. Miller had worked together with Grant Landis, Chad JaXon Perez, Andrew Bazzi, Devin Hayes, and Grayson Goss in a Vine titled ‘TLC in the RV’.

Personal Life

After finishing sixth grade, Jeffrey Miller created an Instagram account and uploaded a couple of 15-second videos of him singing. They were quite successful, garnering him over 3,000 followers. When he informed his mother about that, she told him to take the videos down immediately. While he did what he was told at the time, he continued to try to get his parents’ permission for his online presence. They eventually acquiesced. On June 8, 2013, Miller created a YouTube channel and posted his first video, a cover of Lulu and the Lampshades’ ‘Cups’.

The short-video sharing app Vine caught his attention when he noticed that his friends in school were using it. He asked his parents if he could set up an account there. Initially, they said no, but after three months of begging, he was eventually permitted to do so.

He was further emboldened by a well-received performance of Rihanna’s 'Stay' at his middle school’s variety show. On November 30, 2013, he posted his first two Vine videos, short covers of One Direction’s ‘Little Things’ and The Neighbourhood’s ‘Sweater Weather’. He continued to upload throughout the following winter, covering artists like Tori Kelly, Bruno Mars, and Beyonce. In one such instance, he recorded parts of Sara Bareilles’ ‘Brave’. While the song was originally written after Bareilles was inspired by a friend’s struggle in coming out as gay, Miller sang it as a response to bullying, something which he often faced both at school and online.

Soon enough, his videos were being revined and remixed. Other Viners even used his videos for impromptu low-tech duets. He found his way into the site’s “Popular List” and was featured on its front page. On July 2, 2014, he appeared on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’, where the host Michael Strahan introduced him by stating that “they’re comparing him to Justin Bieber.” He also appeared on ‘The Meredith Vieira Show’ where he performed on TV for the first time.
