Jeananne Goossen was born on January 3, 1985 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her father Ted Goossen, who is from New York, is a professor of Japanese literature and film. Her mother Tam Goossen, who is from Hong Kong, is an activist as well as municipally elected executive in education.
Goossen attended McGill University in Montreal and studied biochemistry there. Later on she joined the York University's prestigious program for a short interval. While in Japan, the actress attended bilingual programs in Japanese and French language schools.
