Jaryd Lazar was born on 23 April, 1987, in Colorado. He is of a mixed descent and is partly Hungarian. He was extremely passionate about video games during his childhood and is very happy that he is a professional gamer. He has mentioned that he uses a 144Hz monitor, and his favorite game is Counter Strike 1.6. He chose his username ‘summit1g’ randomly without any thought as he just wanted something that others hadn’t picked. He currently drives the coveted Nissan GTR.
He was married to his longtime girlfriend Desirae before the couple divorced in 2016. They continue to remain best friend and she is his manager. He is currently dating the streamer lilchiipmunk, whose real name is Caroline. He has also made a brief appearance on her stream. He currently lives with his younger brother at Colorado Springs. He also has donated money to Gamers Outreach, an organization that provides recreation and therapy through video games to children in hospitals.
Summit1g was fascinated with video games and played them ever since he was a child. He constantly uploaded his game videos on his social media pages. He gained popularity early in 2012 and it was then he ventured into professional gaming. He soon opened a Twitch account and began live streaming. During this time, he worked as a call representative at the Time Warner Cable Company but decided to leave this job as he hated it and wanted to focus entirely on his gaming career. This proved to be an excellent career choice and he has achieved considerable success as a full-time gamer. His fan base extends into millions of other gamers and followers on Twitch.
He started with Counter Strike: Global Offensive Player and soon became a competitive player who played only through invites as he did not have a permanent team. He later streamed the pre-fight conference between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor, which resulted in a higher number of views on his channel and more fans.
His professional career started off in 2012 when he joined ‘Exertus Sports’ in December. In 2013, he was ranked 7th at the qualifier level in the North American ESEA Invite Season 15. It was reported that during this year, he earned about $3000 from Esports competitions and around $29,000 from the Alienware gaming community.
In 2015, he participated in the Clutch Con tournament and joined team Torqued. Later, he joined Quantic Gamic to participate in the Alienware Cup. His team finished fourth in the CEVO Professional Placement later in the year. Summit1g also became a member of Potato Streamers and represented them in the North American tourney. In 2016, he was a part of the Ze Pug Godz team when he participated in the CEVO Professional North America. The next year, he was in the team Mythic. He competed in the Main Division of ESEA as well. In February 2017, he surpassed his own record when over 90,000 people watched his stream as he competed against Mythic in the Esports Championship Series Qualifier. He is currently sponsored by Audio-Technica, the audio company, as well as Monster Energy.
A disappointing moment for summit1g’s fans was when he played a game of Fortnite Battle Royale with the controversial YouTube vlogger Jake Paul in April 2018. This caused an uproar among his fans as Jake isn’t a likable personality and has also been accused of racism. Summit1g took to twitter to respond to his fans that he will not apologize for playing with Jake.
