Jane Krakowski was born in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey, USA on October 11, 1968. Her father was a chemical engineer and her mother was a theater instructor in a local college. Her mother also worked as artistic director for the prestigious Women’s Theater Company.
Krakowski completed her schooling in the Professional Children’s School in New York City and later graduated from the Rutgers University. Professional Children’s School is intended for aspiring actors and dancers. She learned acting well by the time she completed her schooling.
Krakowski’s father was of Polish ancestry. Her mother was of Polish, French, Canadian, and Scottish descent. She has one older brother.
As her family had some background in the entertainment sector, she got interested in theater and dancing from a very young age. Her mother used to take her to classes at the local college and krakowski slowly got involved in the local theater scene.
She started taking ballet lessons at the age of four. But she later stopped due to her bad body shape and started learning Broadway dancing.
Krakowski is a multi-faceted personality who has excelled in multiple art forms. She got her first role in acting while she was still in her teens. In the year 1983, she played an oversexed cousin in ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’.
She later got opportunities in daytime television. She acted in the TV show ‘Search for Tomorrow’ during 1984-1986. The show made Krakowski very popular and earned her two Daytime Emmy nominations.
By the later 1980s and early 1990s, Krakowski started focusing on theater. She found some success on New York Stage. Her first Broadway role was in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Starlight Express’. She played several Broadway roles like the one in ‘Once Upon a Mattress’ along with Sarah Jessica Parker in the year 1996.
Between the years 1997 to 2002, Krakowski played the role of an office assistant in the TV Show ‘Ally McBeal’.
Krakowski acted in many movies like ‘Fatal Attraction’, ‘Marci X’, ‘Dance With Me’, and ‘Mom at Sixteen’. She also tried her luck in TV movies like NBC’s ‘A Christmas Carol: The Musical’ in the year 2004.
The NBC soap opera ‘Search for Tomorrow’ continues to be one of her major works. The show was a feather in the cap of ‘Procter & Gamble Productions’ which made several TV Shows from 1950s to 1980s.
The Broadway musical ‘Nine’ in which she starred opposite ‘Antonio Banderas’ in 2003 brought her a lot of fame and attention. The musical was a hit and got her more opportunities.
