James White was born on December 17, 1962 in Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA. He gained his bachelor degree from Grand Canyon University and later enrolled for a degree in MA from Fuller Theological Seminary. Interestingly, though having just an MA degree, White has been using the title of a Doctor for more than two decades. It was only lately in March 2017 in order to justify his unaccredited title that White has enrolled for a PhD program in North West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa. James White married Kelli and the couple was blessed with two children, Joshua and Summer. They have two grandchildren as well, namely, Clementine and January.
James White rose to fame after he was chosen to chair the position of Director of Alpha and Omega Ministries, a pre-suppositional apologetics organization based in Phoenix, Arizona. However, before he took up the coveted position, he served as a critical consultant for the Lockman Foundation's New American Standard Bible. White first struck limelight when he started engaging himself in public debates. Over the years, he has participated in more than 150 public moderated debates, covering topics such as Calvinism, Roman Catholicism, Islam, Mormonism, the King James Only movement, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Atheism. His debate opponents have included imminent scholars such as Bart Ehrman, John Dominic Crossan, Marcus Borg, Joe Ventilacion and leading popularizers such as Dan Barker and John Shelby Spong. He has also debated against Islamic scholar Shabir Ally and South African Muslim apologist Yusuf Ismail.
Apart from holding the Directorship of Alpha and Omega Ministries, White has been serving as an elder of Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church in Phoenix, AZ, since 1998. Additionally, he also serves as a professor, teaching Greek, Systematic Theology, and various topics in the field of apologetics. White has authored more than 20 books on theology, some of the most famous of them include ‘The King James Only Controversy’, ‘The Forgotten Trinity’, ‘The Potter's Freedom’, and ‘The God Who Justifies’. He also runs a blog and a bi-weekly webcast called ‘The Dividing Line’.
