Jakob was born Jakob Leo Delgado, on December 21, 2000, in Sydney, Australia, to Leo and Leanne Delgado. Jakob has a sister named Mikaila, who is an aspiring singer.
Jakob loves to relish on guacamole. A movie buff, he likes to watch movies on ‘Netflix.’ Jakob’s bandmates, Chris and Ethan, regard him as the clumsiest person of the three.
Jakob began his music career as a solo artist. However, his solo career was highly unsuccessful. He was an amateur singer until he met Chris Lanzon and Ethan Karpathy. Together, they formed a pop–rock band, 'In Stereo,' and participated in the Australian version of 'The X Factor' in 2015. The band performed consistently well, earning accolades from the judges, and eventually reached the finals. Despite not winning the show, the trio made a huge impact on the audience. With the massive success of the band, Jakob’s music career saw a major transition. He became a professional artist thereafter.
Jakob and his bandmates gave a remarkable performance with their rendition of Taylor Swift’s 'Style' in the 'The X Factor' audition, which marked the beginning of their successful journey on the show. Throughout the show, Jakob learned a lot under the mentorship of Australian singer and lyricist Guy Sebastian. Sadly, his band could not win the show.
In 2016, 'In Stereo' signed a contract with 'Warner Music Australia' and released their first EP, ‘She's Rock n Roll,’ which bagged the 11th spot on the 'Australian Recording Industry Association’ (ARIA) Charts.' The band’s debut single, 'Honest,' was produced by James Yammouni, former member of the 'YouTube' comedy group 'The Janoskians.' The same year, Jakob and his bandmates represented 'In Stereo' on the 'Honest Tour.' Jakob and his band also attended shows such as 'The Speed of Sound Launch Shows' (2016), 'The Main Event, Dolly' (2016), the 'Summer Party' (2017), and the 'Day In Day Out Tour' (2017). The band owns a self-titled 'YouTube' channel, where one can find several of Jakob’s cover versions of hit tracks. He has performed covers for ‘Autumn Leaves’ by Ed Sheeran and ‘She Looks So Perfect’ by ‘5 Seconds of Summer.’ Some of his other noteworthy covers are for 'Location' by Khalid, 'Self Control' by Frank Ocean, and 'Don't' by Bryson Tiller.
Shortly after their elimination from ‘The X Factor,’ Jakob and his band had created a miniseries called the ‘In Stereo Show,' which they uploaded on ‘Facebook’ every week. The series featured Jakob and his bandmates interacting with their fans, answering their questions, and updating them about their upcoming ventures. Jakob owns an individual 'YouTube' channel, which hosts his cover versions. Both his and his band’s ‘YouTube’ channels have a little more than four thousand subscribers.
Ethan quit the group in December 2017. Jakob and Chris then released the single ‘Cruel’ in January 2018, as a duo. They had changed the styling of their name from ‘In Stereo’ to ‘instereo.’ However, Jakob and Chris announced the end of the duo in April 2018. At the same time, Jakob underwent a lot of transitions. The tonal quality of his voice changed, and he began drawing inspiration from relatively mature artists such as Drake, Khalid, Blackbear, and Post Malone. Jakob has major plans for his solo ventures.
