Jake Foushee was born on May 1, 1997, in North Catalonia and has spent the majority of his life in the Tar Heel State. However, he does have plans to eventually move to Los Angeles. He has a younger brother named Luke who has appeared in many of his Vines.
As with most boys, life changed drastically for Foushee when puberty hit. In his case, however, it was a bit more prominent and sudden than usual. When he was 13 years old, his voice deepened overnight. He used to sound like a regular kid and then, he got a cold. When he woke up the next morning, his voice had gone way down. Initially, he thought it was the cold, which eventually went away but the voice did not return to its original pitch. According to his mother, Joanna, they were all confused about the voice, but as it stuck around, they came to accept it. He talked about it during his appearance on ‘The Ellen Show’. His friends realised he had this new voice and they would often send him to girls to say “Hey, baby.” They would even pay him to record their voicemails!
After getting used to the change in his own voice and seeing how entertaining it was for his friends, Foushee opened a Vine account and began uploading content soon after. He gained traction and at the height of the app’s popularity, he had amassed over 1.7 million followers.
He had set up his YouTube channel on March 16, 2011. After Vine closed shop for good, Foushee was one of the few social media influencers to make a successful transition. He was also part of OurPizzaGang, a group of internet personalities. Active between 2013 and 2016, the group consisted of, besides Foushee, Christian Collins, Alex Ernst, Justin Escalona, Hudson Luthringshausen, and Zach Lilley.
Foushee’s deep voice and various impressions garnered him mainstream interest. After one of his videos went viral and got millions of views, he was asked to appear on ‘The Ellen Show’. He appeared in the episode aired on April 25, 2012. Besides being impressed by the young talent, Ellen got him signed with a New York based talent agency. Foushee has also appeared in ‘Inside Edition’ and ‘Good Morning America’
Foushee considers legendary voice actor Don Fontaine as his inspiration and idol. From 2014 to 2015, he lent his voice to various characters in the web series ‘Sanders Shorts.’
