Jaime Preciado was born in San Diego, California, to Mexican parents on 17th May 1986. He has an older brother named Chris. Both the brothers used to attend concerts as kids and that got Jaime enthused about music (particularly the punk rock genre) in the first place.
When Jaime started taking music seriously, he mostly played trumpet after he learned playing himself but when he got a guitar from an uncle, he got hooked to that. Jaime did his schooling from El Captain School in his hometown and played music in annual functions and other small and big events at his family or friend’s houses.
His first claim to fame came when he was still in high school and became a part of a local metal core band named ‘Trigger my Nightmare’ which was moderately successful at the local level. But the experience of working with them made Jaime aware of the several nuances involved in the industry and set a solid foundation for his future career as a successful musician.
Before forming his band, Jaime played bass for ‘Trigger My Nightmare’ for a few years. Pierce the Veil’s current guitarist Tony Perry was also a part of Trigger my Nightmare and both Petty and Jaime shared a good chemistry on and off stage, which clearly showed in their early concerts. His time with Trigger my Nightmare was pretty productive as he learned quite a lot but he tasted the real success when he joined Pierce the Veil.
Upon joining Pierce the Veil, Jaime released the first studio album ‘A Flair for the Dramatic’ in 2007 under the banner Equal Vision Records to a massive success. The band went on a tour across United States once the album hit the market and the band immediately became a hot property among the organizers. The Warped Tour, one of the concerts, is still widely considered to be Pierce the Veil’s career turning point as it put them on the map among the best rock bands of present times.
The work on their second studio album was done within 8 weeks, if reports and interviews of the band members are to be believed. Equal Vision records released the album ‘Selfish Machines’ in June 2010, and for its promotion, Jaime and his team embarked on a tour across US, which turned out to be humongous success. In January and February 2011, the band went to their very first European tour and the album and the concerts turned out to be a major success in European countries.
In 2012, the band released their third studio album titled ‘Collide with the Sky’, their most successful product till date. In order to promote the album, the band played in the Warped Tour and was positively received by the spectators and the album eventually went on to receive several accolades. The coveted American magazine Alternative Press placed ‘Collide with the Sky’ among the best albums of 2012 and the reader’s votes were also in favour of the band. The group won titles such as Best Live Act and Best Artist of the Year in reader’s polls.
Later, the band embarked on a tour across South American countries and released their fourth studio album ‘Misadventures’ in 2016, after delaying it for several years. The band released the album with an ‘Album release concert’ in Mexico City and the promotions started with live shows across the country. The European tour followed and the band received almost a hundred percent attendance in all of their concerts.
