Jadyn Wong was born as Kristianna Jesse Wong on May 11, 1985 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Her parents had migrated from Hong Kong and set up a restaurant there. At the age of 12, she had enrolled into the drama class in junior high school to overcome shyness. When she was young, she trained in karate as a hobby, and later earned a black-belt. She also trained as a classical pianist. She studied at Medicine Hat High School and then enrolled into a commerce course at Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, but dropped out without completing her graduation after she landed a role in 'Broken Trail'.
She later moved to Vancouver and graduated with a degree in Commerce from the University of British Columbia. While she is currently playing a character in the action drama 'Scorpion', her expertise in karate has not been of any use so far in stunts. She loves to meet her fans at Comic Con, but mentioned that she doesn't consider herself a sci-fi fan as she hasn't seen any of the 'Star Trek' or 'Star Wars' movies. She currently travels between Toronto and Los Angeles to meet her acting commitments.
While studying commerce at the University of Calgary, Jadyn Wong had signed up for a local talent agency and often sneaked into auditions for the theatre department, but after it was discovered that she was not a theatre major, she was disqualified from getting a role. Nevertheless, she was able to pass the first round on several occasions, getting the opportunity to talk to the directors, one of whom encouraged her to do what she liked to do. Within six months, she landed a role in the Emmy-winning miniseries 'Broken Trail' in 2006. She originally auditioned for the role in Cantonese, but had to learn and speak Mandarin for the part. The miniseries allowed her to share screen space with veteran actor Robert Duvall, which made it easier for her to take the decision to defer her college studies.
For almost a decade, she only managed to gain a few guest appearances, including two episodes of 'Caprica' and the recurring role of Rachel on six episodes of the Canadian drama series 'Being Erica'. In the meantime, she made her film debut with a small role in 'Space Buddies' in 2009, and since then has appeared on a number of American, Canadian and Mexican films. However, her big break came in 2014 when she bagged the role of Happy Quinn, one of the main casts on the American action drama series 'Scorpion', which is loosely based on the life of computer expert Walter O'Brien. Even her character is based on a real genius – who in fact is an older man – but the show took the creative liberty to introduce her character in his place.
While Jadyn Wong likes to keep her personal life private, after her character in the television series 'Scorpion' got married and became pregnant, many of her fans started to speculate if there is any correlation between her onscreen role and real life status. The speculations were in part fuelled by some of her own social media posts in which see repeatedly mentioned babysitting, accompanied by pictures of pets. It was soon revealed that she was only babysitting her friends' pets, but some fans started to see more into those posts than what she probably intended: while some opined she is method acting her role in the TV series, others wondered if it can be a hint towards something in her life.
