J-Hope was born as Jung Ho-seok on February 18, 1994 in Gwangju, South Korea. He has an older sister named Mejiwoo who is a well-known Instagram personality. J-Hope was first spotted by agents from Big Hit Entertainment in 2010 during major national castings. After a few months, he signed his first contract for pre-debuts along with the other selected members. He then joined Bangtan Boys as its first trainee and then officially became a member of the band in June 2013. The other members of the band are Jin, Suga, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
In 2013, J-hope made his debut with the single "No More Dream" that was released as a part of the Bangtan Boys’ debut album, ‘2 Cool 4 Skool.’ Since then, the South Korean singer and his band mates have released numerous studio albums including ‘Youth,’ ‘Wake Up,’ ‘Wings,’ and ‘Dark & Wild’ and several mini-albums including ‘Love Yourself: Her,’ ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life’ (Part 1 & 2) and ‘O! RUL8,2?’
These albums and mini-albums feature many hit songs such as "Hold Me Tight", "Butterfly", "House of Cards", "My City", ""Love Is Not Over", "Am I Wrong" and "Whalien 52", to name a few. On December 21, 2015, the South Korean singer started his solo music career with his first ever single titled “1 VERSE”. Currently, J-Hope also produces songs for BTS along with his fellow band members. He is now planning to release his first solo mix tape in 2018.
