Isha Ambani

Isha Mukesh Ambani was born on October 23, 1991 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the only daughter of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. She has a twin brother named Akash, and another younger brother named Anant. She is the grandchild of late Dhirubhai Ambani, an Indian business tycoon and founder of Reliance Industries, and his wife, Kokilaben. She is the niece of Anil Ambani, the chairman of Reliance ADA Group, and his wife Tina Ambani, Bollywood leading lady of the 1980s. Isha is a trained pianist.

She attended Dhiru Bhai International School, which is run by her mother. She later studied Psychology and South Asian Studies at Yale University, from where she got her undergraduate degree in 2014. A sports enthusiast, she was part of her university’s soccer team. In May 2016, it was rumored that she was accepted into both Harvard and Stanford Universities for their MBA programs. She is currently pursuing her MBA degree at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Isha Ambani, who went to Yale University for higher studies, came back and told her father that the internet connection in the house was miserable. While she depended largely on the internet to do a vast number of tasks, back at home she could not do anything properly. This prompted her father to eventually venture into the telecom industry and launch the game-changing Jio 4G-LTE connection. Both Isha and her brother Akash have been closely involved with the company since its inception.

In 2014, after completing her undergraduate degree from Yale, she joined the management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, as a business analyst. She used the opportunity to work in the global firm as a preparation for her future role in her father's business. Later that year, at the age of 22, she and her twin brother Akash, were inducted into the board of directors of two firms under the Reliance group, Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail. She, along with Akash, debuted before RIL shareholders in July 2017, and unveiled the 4G-enabled JioPhone handset, providing a live demo of the phone.

Isha Ambani, who was born into one of the wealthiest families in India, knew as a child that she would eventually have to take responsibility in her father's business. Her father, treated her as a partner in his business from early on, instead of treating her as an intern, which helped her develop confidence and take decisions. According to close sources, she wanted to actively participate in her father's business, and was particularly interested in the environmental projects of the conglomerate.

Well aware of her privileged upbringing, Isha often dedicates herself to the welfare of the underprivileged. During Christmas in 2014, she stepped into her mother's shoes and played Santa's merriest elf to underprivileged children from Mumbai at the Hamley's toy store in Lower Parel.

While Isha Ambani prefers to keep a low profile most of the times, just like many other celebrities before her, she has been the target of fake news, rumors, and identity thefts quite a few times. In May 2015, a Facebook account by the user name 'iamishaambani' surfaced with pictures of Lamborghini Aventador gift and promise of iPhone rewards over Mumbai Indians' victory. However, the account was later confirmed as fake.

Likewise, in October 2016, news spread that Isha is tying the knot the next month. However, a representative from Reliance confirmed that the news was a hoax and it was actually her cousin who was getting married that month. In August 2017, a Twitter account posing as Isha stated that JioFiber, Jio's broadband service, will offer 100GB data with 1gbps speed at Rs 500 in 100 cities by Diwali. It was later found that the account was not authentic.
