Hwang Jung-eum was born on January 25, 1985 in Seoul, South Korea. She attended University of Suwon - Theater and Film. She began a relationship with actor Kim Yong-jun after meeting him in 2005. However, she broke up with him in May 2015. On 8 December 2015, the actress’ agency C-JeS Entertainment stated that Hwang was in a relationship with professional golfer and businessman Lee Young-don. The couple got married on February 26, 2016 at Hotel Shilla, Seoul. Hwang gave birth to Lee’s baby on August 15, 2017.

Personal Life

Hwang Jung-eum started her entertainment career in 2001 by joining the pop music group Sugar as a lead vocalist. Three years later, she left the group to pursue a solo career. In 2005 Hwang appeared in music videos for ‘SG Wannabe’. Two years later, she appeared in the series ‘The Person I Love’ as Lee Jung-min as well as guest starred in the 3rd season of ‘Happy Together’. After this, she, along with her then-boyfriend Kim Yong-jun joined the 2nd season of the reality show ‘We Got Married’.

In 2009, Hwang got featured in music videos for Ock Joo-hyun and Kim Jong-wook. In 2010, she did the series ‘Giant’. She also appeared in the flick ‘Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp’ that year. In addition, the South Korean actress did a few variety shows during that time, including ‘Running Man’, ‘Strong Heart’, ‘Come to Play’, ‘Haha-Mong Show’ and ‘Ultra Fashion with Hwang Jung-eum’.

During 2011-12, Hwang worked in the series ‘Can You Hear My Heart’ and ‘Golden Time’. Then she was cast as Kang Yoo-jung in the drama ‘Secret Love’ and also became a part of the 3rd season of ‘Happy Together’. In 2014, she joined the team of ‘Endless Love’. The following year, Hwang played the roles of Oh Ri-jin and Kim Hye-jin in the series ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ and ‘She Was Pretty’ respectively. She also acted in the movie ‘My Sister, the Pig Lady’ that year. After this, she appeared as Shim Bo-nui in the program ‘Lucky Romance’.
