Harry Holland born at
Harry Holland was born on February 14, 1999, in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England to Dominic Holland and Nicola Elizabeth Frost. Besides Tom, he has two more brothers, his twin Sam and younger brother Paddy. His father is a comedian and author while his mother is a photographer. His paternal grandparents, Teresa Holland and John Charles Anthony Holland, were originally from the Isle of Man and Tipperary, Ireland.
Surrounded by artists at home, Harry Holland’s passion for cinema developed organically. However, unlike his older brother Tom, who was rapidly becoming a teen sensation in Britain as a dancer and actor, Harry found himself more intrigued by what transpires behind the camera. He took dance classes along with his brothers Tom and Sam, but he wasn’t much interested in the art form.
He made his film debut as an actor in the 2012 disaster drama ‘The Impossible’. Tom had been cast as Lucas Bennett, the son of Henry (McGregor) and Maria Bennett (Watts). Harry, who was 12 years old then, travelled with his family to Thailand to live with Tom. Having spent a significant portion of his youth on the sets of a major Hollywood film, he possibly received the best practical education in filmmaking. He was also asked to play a small role in the film, which he gladly accepted.
Holland worked with Watts again in his second film, the 2013 biographical drama ‘Diana’, which was based on the last two years of Princess Diana’s life. He portrayed Prince Harry in the film and had considerably more screen time than he had in ‘The Impossible’.
He made his debut as a director with the 2015 short film ‘Tweet’, in which he also starred as Harry. His next project as a director was ‘Hugo Hans: Wildrunners’. Released in 2016, the short was shot as a music video for the American artist Hugo Hans’ song ‘Wildrunners’, from his 2013 album ‘Beginners’
He wrote and directed his next project ‘In the Middle of the Night’ in 2016. In the same year, he also released another video short, titled ‘Storybook Ending’. Holland has directed his brothers Sam and Paddy in their debut projects, ‘Roses for Lily’ and ‘The Mysterious House on Hoarder Hill’, respectively.
