GradeAUnderA was born as Ram Karavadra on October 6, 1988 in England. Although it is said that he is of Indian origin, it is not confirmed as he desires to be anonymous. In a video, ‘How To Find Any Song’s Name’ uploaded in May 2016, he revealed his face for the first time. In another video, ‘Stupid Things That Parents Do’, uploaded in the same month, he revealed that his name is 'Ram'. In the video titled ‘My Brain vs My Body’, he mentioned that he is allergic to peanuts. He studied mathematics in his university and aspired to be a teacher once.

He created his YouTube channel GradeAUnderA on January 31, 2013. It has amassed 3.2 million subscribers and 370 million views as of May 2018. He also runs another YouTube channel called GradeBUnderB, which he describes as a back-up channel in case he is compelled to close down his main channel GradeAUnderA. His videos feature animated cartoons and his rants about different subjects in a comedic style. His videos are humorous but the cartoons are poorly drawn, according to commentors. He once used to upload videos once a week, usually on Saturdays.

His satirical rants about fellow YouTubers, politicians, and celebrities are paticularly liked by his subscribers. He likes to interact with his fans directly, which he does quite often.

He once revealed that he draws the cartoons and sequences them in Microsoft Paint, edits them with Windows Movie Maker, and records his voice with a Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II phone.

Due to his controversial comments and sarcastic rants, he had gone viral on Reddit several times. His business and channel had been among the fastest-growing ones.

In 2017, he suddenly disappeared from his channel and stopped uploading videos. In May 2017, he announced that he was caught in some "life issues" and would again start uploading videos soon. However, he disappeared for a few months again and finally returned to his channel in September 2017. The last video he uploaded was on September 20, 2017. Since then, he has not uploaded any videos.

GradeAUnderA has come under fire several times for his rants and comments which often go overboard, bordering on indecency and obscenity. Many believe that the quality of his content has deteriorated drastically in the past few years and that his videos are not as funny as they were before. He is also criticized for backstabbing his fellow YouTubers like Keemstar.
