Born in 1975 in Mumbai, India, Goldie Behl is the son of the famous director Ramesh Behl, who has directed hit movies like ‘Kasame Vaade,’ ‘Pukar,’ and ‘Apne Apne’. Goldie attended Mayo College in Rajasthan. He has two siblings. His sister Shrishti Arya, who is into software production, has co-produced many films with him. He has been married to popular film actress Sonali Bendre since November 12, 2002, and has a son Ranveer.

Personal Life

Goldie Behl was trained within the Mumbai film industry. He made his directorial debut at the age of 26, with the film ‘Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai’ in 2001, with Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherji, Sushmita Sen, and Jackie Shroff in the lead roles. However, the film was a flop at the box office.

Although acclaimed as one of India's brightest young filmmakers at that time, Goldie could not live up to the expectations. His second film project was ‘Drona’, a fantasy-cum-action film with technologically advanced special effects. It starred Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra. The film, which Behl had written as well, crashed badly at the box office.

After he failed as a director, he decided to become a producer, and co-produced films like ‘Angaraay’, ‘London, Paris, New York’, and ‘Nagarjuna’, with his sister Shrishti Arya. ‘London, Paris, New York’, was a romantic comedy film released in 2012. It was written and directed by Anu Menon, starring Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. While the movie was made on a budget of Rs. 70 million, it earned Rs. 240 million. The film ‘I, Me aur Main’ was also a romantic comedy, directed by Kapil Sharma. The film, featuring John Abraham, Prachi Desai, and Chitrangada Singh in lead roles, was released in March 2013, and was a disaster at the box office.

Next, he co-founded the production company Rose audio visuals, which has produced television series like ‘Lipstick’ and ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’. In 2012, he co-produced the Hindi television series ‘Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara’, aired on Sony TV. The series was dubbed into Tamil as ‘Kadhal Mayam’, and broadcast on Polimer TV.
