Personal Life

Gina Kirschenheiter, a Psychology major who wanted to travel around the world, began her career as a flight attendant for North American Airlines after graduating from Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. After leaving that job, she served as an executive assistant on the Upper East Side neighborhood in New York City. Thereafter, she considered going back to school to earn a master's degree in health administration from the Hofstra School of Medicine, but at the time became pregnant with her first child Nicholas, which disrupted her plans and forced her to focus on motherhood. Due to her then-husband Matthew Kirschenheiter's job in Los Angeles, they relocated from her home city of New York to Orange County in California with their first two children in 2015.

Rise to Stardom

A couple of years later, while still married to Matthew, she became a cast member on season thirteen of the reality television series 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' as a housewife and a mother of three children. She was advertised on the network's website as the "expressive outsider from Long Island" who would shake things up with her political correctness. The fact that she had already filed for divorce from her husband in April 2018, long before the show was aired on July 16, 2018, as well as that her soon-to-be-ex husband never showed up on the show itself, created a lot of speculations about their relationship, which worked in favor of the show's publicity. In fact, understanding the confusion, she joked during an interview that her husband was real because her co-star from the show, Emily Simpson, had met him in person. However, she also clarified that he doesn't appear on the show because his employer doesn't want him to, and not because they are getting divorced.

Relationship with Matthew Kirschenheiter

While they seemed to be a happy family of five, it was reported in mid-2018 that she had already separated from her husband. The rumors were fuelled by the fact that her husband never made an appearance on her reality television show, 'The Real Housewives of Orange County'. Gina, who considers herself "private with relationships", has nevertheless talked about her personal life on television from time to time. She revealed in July 2018 that she and her husband had already split back in April that year and were going through the legal procedures of getting divorced. According to her, the fact that he spent a lot of time working in Los Angeles while she was left to look after their children had already strained their relationship, which was made worse after she joined the reality show. However, she considers Matthew to be "a really good dad" who always takes all three children on outings while she leaves most of the responsibilities of her youngest child to babysitters. She also mentioned that he "always been a good provider" for her, and a good friend, and will always be a part of her family despite the divorce. She also confirmed that the divorce proceedings are supposed to finalize in the first week of November.
