Georgia Box was born on March 21, 1995, in Colchester, a town in Essex County, England. Little is known about her family life. In an interview to Femail, Box mentioned that when she was a little girl, her mother told her that she had started to sing before she could talk. She had always harboured musical aspirations and was inspired by television talent series such as ‘Stars in Their Eyes’. She started performing at the age of seven and in time, built up an impressive résumé with stage, radio, and television work.
In 2011, she enrolled at Tiffany Theatre College in Southend-on-Sea, England to do a professional performance course, eventually graduating in 2014. Besides singing, Box has been a football player since her school days. She currently plays as a striker for Billericay Town Ladies. She is also trained in various dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, and tap and can play the guitar.
Georgia Box debuted on stage in 2003 with a Royal Opera House London’s production of Leoš Janáček’s ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’. Her television debut came about in the same year, in ITV’s ‘The Pride of Britain Awards’. In the subsequent years, she appeared in productions of Bedřich Smetana’s ‘The Bartered Bride’ (2015) at the Royal Opera House London and the musical ‘Move It’ (2013) at London Olympia. She was also active as a solo performer, singing at various festivals and award ceremonies.
After she left school, Box decided to devote herself completely to pursuing a career in the music industry. Besides doing local gigs, she started to use social media to reach a wider audience. She recorded herself covering famous artists and uploaded them on her Facebook and YouTube accounts. In November 2014, she uploaded her cover of ‘Chandelier’ by Sia. This was her first video that went viral. Her popularity only increased after she posted the female response to Shaggy’s ‘It Wasn't Me’ in July 2017. The video has garnered over 30 million views on Facebook.
On August 5, 2016, she put out her debut EP, ‘Love Languages’. It contained five songs, ‘Someone You Love’, ‘Again’, ‘Love Languages’, ‘Yours’ and ‘Tonight’, and was well-received by the audience. She has since released three more singles, ‘Questions’ and ‘Rockstar’ in 2017 and ‘I Don’t Want You Anymore’ in 2018.
Since the release of her EP, several management companies and renowned songwriters have shown interest in working with her. She was courted by the creators of both ‘The Voice’ and ‘The X Factor’ for an appearance on the respective shows but she declined both offers, preferring to work her way to success in a more traditional route.
