Gauri Khan was born as Gauri Chibber on 8 October 1970 in New Delhi, India, to parents Savita and Ramesh Chandra Chibber. She has a brother named Vikrant Chibber. She studied at Loreto Convent School and Modern School, Delhi. Later on, she earned her bachelor's degree from Lady Shri Ram College. She also took a six months training course in fashion designing from the prestigious fashion designing institute NIFT. On 25 October 1991, she married Shah Rukh Khan. Today, the couple has three kids, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam (born via surrogacy).
In 2004, Gauri Khan, together with her husband, launched a film production and distribution company named Red Chillies Entertainment. She then made her debut as a producer in Bollywood with the movie ‘Main Hoon Na’. After this, she co-produced another movie titled ‘Kaal’ in 2005. The same year, she made the flick ‘Paheli’. This movie brought several awards and honours for her. Then in 2007, Khan made ‘Om Shanti Om’. This flick was followed by ‘Billu’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’ in 2009 and 2010 respectively. In 2011, she made two films, namely ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ and ‘Ra.One’. A year later, Khan co-produced ‘Student Of The Year’ and then she made the movies ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Happy New Year’, ‘Dilwale’, ‘Dear Zindagi’ and ‘Raees’. Her most recent movie as a producer is ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’.
Gauri Khan first ventured into television in the 1990s when she hosted MTV’s ‘Oye’, a weekly Bollywood music countdown show. Years later, in 2008, she appeared in a TV commercial for the home furnishings company ‘D'décor’. The same year she got featured as the ‘First Lady of Bollywood’ on the cover of the high-end magazine ‘Vogue’. In 2009, Khan walked the ramp with producer/director Karan Johar at HDIL India Couture Week. Note that she is also the face of ‘Aftershock’, a fashion line.
In 2010, Gauri Khan collaborated with Sussanne Khan for exclusive interior designing projects. The same year, both started work on their first commercial project which was a 60,000 square foot private house in Vadodara. Two years later, both launched their furniture line named ‘The Charcoal Project’. After this, Gauri Khan launched her interior store ‘Design Cell’ in Mumbai.
