Garrett Clayton was born as Gary Michael Clayton on March 19, 1991 in Dearborn, Michigan, United States. Raised in a middle-class family, he attended Crestwood High School. Garrett Clayton made his debut on the big screen in 2008 with the movie ‘The Tower’. After this, he did another movie named ‘Magic Mentah’ which was followed by ‘Virginia’. In 2010, the actor got featured on the television for the very first time. He did two TV projects that year, ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Shake It Up,’ respectively. Two years later, Clayton was cast in the flick ‘The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure’. He was also offered the television film ‘Holiday Spin’. In this film, he portrayed the character of Blake, a teen boy, who after the death of his mother, is forced to live with his father.

In 2013, the American actor was cast in the role of Tanner in Disney's ‘Teen Beach Movie’. He also did two TV shows namely, ‘The Client List’ and ‘Jessie’. After this, he appeared in ‘Win, Lose or Draw’, a television game show, as well as ‘The Fosters’, a family drama TV series. Clayton then reprised the role of Tanner in the ‘Teen Beach Movie’s sequel ‘Teen Beach 2’ in 2015. The same year, he got featured in ‘100 Things to Do Before High School’. Then in 2016, he appeared a number of times on both the small as well as the big screen. The projects Clayton did that year include the films ‘King Cobra’, ‘Welcome To Willits’, ‘Don't Hang Up’, and the TV programs ‘The Real O'Neals’ and ‘Hairspray Live!’
