Francesca Gregorini was born as Francesca McKnight Donatella Romana Gregorini di Savignano di Romagna on August 7, 1968 in Rome, Italy. She is the daughter of Barbara Bach and her businessman husband Count Augusto Gregorini. She is also the stepdaughter of drummer Ringo Starr. Gregorini has a younger sister, Gianni, who is the President of her production company. She also has three step-brothers, drummers Jason and Zak and makeup artist, Lee, all of whom are children of Ringo Starr.
The director cum writer studied at the boarding school, The Moses Brown School. Later on, she attended the Brown University and graduated from there in 1990. Coming to Gregorini’s love life, she is a lesbian and was in a relationship with actress Portia de Rossi from 2000 to 2005. Since 2014, she has been in a love relationship with producer Morgan Marling. As for now, the Italian-American filmmaker is not available on any social networking website.
In 2001, Francesca Gregorini contributed two songs to the soundtrack of the minor flick ‘See Jane Run’. Two years later, she played the guitar and bass in her first CD ‘Sequel.’ She then made the flick ‘Tanner Hall’ in 2009. The film explored the emotional complexities faced by adolescents through the stories of four teenage girls who study at a boarding school. This movie was based on her own adolescent experiences. She then wrote and directed the movie ‘The Truth About Emanuel’ in 2013. This movie, starring Alfred Molina, Jessica Biel and Kaya Scodelario, was chosen for the US dramatic competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
