Fleur East was born on October 29, 1987, in London, UK. Her father, Malcom East, is of Englis ancestry, and her mother, Irene Frimpong-Manso, is a Ghanian. Her twin sister, Keshia, is a make-up professional. Fleur grew up amidst acute financial problems and racism.
East is an alumni of Holy Family Technology College and Queen Mary University of London. She holds a university degree in journalism and contemporary history.
Fleur had an inclination towards music right from her childhood and performed at school events.
In 2005, Fleur East forayed into the world of music as part of the band ‘Addictiv Ladies’ in ‘The X Factor.’ The band dissolved after their elimination from ‘The X Factor’ but Fleur continue to pursue her dream to make it big in the music world.
From 2006 through 2011, Fleur dabbled at various aspects of music such as song writing and performing for various shows while continuing her studies.
In 2011, she met DJ Fresh, a drum-and-bass producer, who employed her as one of the vocalists for his show ‘BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.’
In 2012, Fleur became a part of DJ Fresh’s tour crew, and performed on T4 at the V Festival, iTunes Festival, and Beach Festival. She also appeared in ‘Turn it Up,’ a single by DJ Fresh from his album ‘Nextlevelism.’ The same year, she signed up with ‘Strictly Rhythm’ to release her first single.
In 2013, she appeared in ‘One in a Million’ by Drumsound & Bassline Smith and self-released her first EP titled ‘She’ on the internet for free download. During this time, she also worked as a waitress at Aura Mayfair, a London nightclub, and worked as a fitness model with W Athletic.
In 2015, she performed her popular single ‘More and More’ at the prestigious ‘National Television Awards,’ the popular TV awards ceremony in Britain.
She co-founded ‘N8 GYM,’ a regime for home workout with an intention to encourage youth towards a healthy lifestyle through guided workouts.
