Erika Tham is a Canadian actress, singer, and dancer
Tham was born on December 15, 1998, in Singapore. Her father’s name is Cheng Tham. Erika Tham is of mixed descent, as from her paternal side she is Chinese-Malaysian while from maternal side she is Dutch/Ukranian-Canadian.
At a young age, she has already lived in several countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Taiwan, Thailand and Canada. In all the various countries, she attended IB International schools and participated in the school plays. While in the high school, she performed in the drama class. Moving around various places and countries has helped her understand and adapt to different cultures and environments. In every new country, she continued to pursue her passion for performing by participating in school plays and musical theater.
Tham was noticed while she performed at the ‘PLA Opera House’ in Beijing and the ‘London Olympic Committee’ selected her to play an important part in the ‘Handover’ from China to England in the ‘2008 Olympic Closing Ceremonies.’
She has played guitar since the age of 7. In the real life she is a cello-player, but has played violin in her series, ‘Make It Pop.’ During her growing up years, she spent a lot of time in London Ontario and Toronto, as her mother is from London Ontario.
In order to obtain training in performing arts, she attended ‘Stagedoor Manor’ in New York and ‘ISTA’ in Australia and Beijing. For successive years, she attended summer camps for performing arts in New York. In 2014, she decided to pursue acting as a profession.
Tham made her acting debut in the role of ‘Erika’ in 2015’s ‘Nickelodeon’ TV film, ‘Ho Ho Holiday Special.’ Then in 2016, she appeared in only one episode of the comedy and family series, ‘The Other Kingdom,’ in the role of ‘Quirky.’
Her second professional audition was for the role of ‘Corki Chang’ in ‘Nickelodeon’s’ 2015 -2016 series ‘Make it Pop.’ Tham sent in a self-tape for this audition and was selected for the role. The show combines singing, dancing and acting; thus she enjoys playing the role of ‘Corki.’ ‘Make It Pop’ is a story of three best friends who are striving to be musicians while balancing their studies and relationships.
She has also worked in a 2016 short film, ‘The Stanford Letters.’ Her most recent work is the portrayal of the childhood role of Bonnie Rockwaller, Kim’s Frenemy, in Disney’s action and comedy film ‘Kim Impossible.’
Apart from performing arts, Tham enjoys photography, fitness regimes, and she loves fashion as well as traveling and visiting art, science and history museums.
She has two pet white poodles, Pava and Lova.
