Elizabeth was previously married to Michael Gleen Martin from 1982 until 1997. He passed away in 1997. She married William Shatner on February 13, 2001 in Lebanon. She is the stepmother of Leslie Carol Shatner, Lisabeth Shatner and Melanie Shatner. There were several eyebrows raised due to age difference between Shatner and Elizabeth, but they continue to remain a happy couple that is devoted to each other.
Elizabeth’s career as a professional horse trainer began at a very young age. She developed a love for horses and nature during her childhood and began riding a horse at the age of five. She was 8 years old when she was given her first horse, which was a Gailceno pony. Later on, she started teaching horseback riding as well as judging equine competitions.
Her deep love for nature and its creation would serve as a foundation for her later career as an artist. She pursued a degree in equine and animal science at Purdue University to further her knowledge in the field. Eventually, she started working as a professional horse trainer.
Her love for horses served as a bonding point with her current husband William Shatner. The couple embraced each other’s company when their respective spouses passed away. Her association with Shatner, the famous actor and director, led her to appear in many documentaries and series.
She appeared as herself in the documentary ‘E! True Hollywood Story’ in 2002. She later appeared in the Spplat Attack documentary in the same year. Her other appearances as herself include ‘Life Beyond Trek: William Shatner’ (2004), ‘Gonzo Ballet’ (2009), ‘American Pickers’ (2011), and ‘The Captains’ (2012). She had regular appearances in the TV documentary series ‘The Shatner Project’ (2014). She also appeared in Huey Lewis and The News’s video of ‘Do You Believe in Love’. She has collaborated with her husband by writing the song ‘Together’ in Shatner’s album ‘Has Been’.
During a safari trip with her husband in Israel, Elizabeth found herself suddenly filled with inspiration and passion for art while she clicked photographs of nature. She has termed her art ‘Flowrosophy’ by which she intends to use the shapes, lights, and colors available in nature come alive through her art.
