Douglas Darian Walker earlier used to work as an illustrator. He started to post series of self-explanatory videos “5 Second Movies” on YouTube where he and his friends shared jokes about some movies.
Later in July 2007, he went on to launch a comedy web series on YouTube titled “Nostalgia Critic." In this series, he uploaded videos where he as “Nostalgia Critic” sarcastically criticized movies.
In 2008, he and his associates announced the search for a female face to review mushy, sentimental films, and television programmes with women as targeted audience. This idea named “The Nostalgic Chick” was a sidequel of his earlier venture and this competition was won by Ellis who was famous as ‘The Dudette."
His reviews became popular, but he had to remove the video series from YouTube in April, 2008, due to copyright issues and infringement complaints by the '20th Century Fox' and 'Lionsgate' and he had to shift to his own independent website called ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com.
However, later in 2009, they again featured on YouTube as a result of a contract between Blip (American media platform for web series content) and the company.
Doug Walker was born on November 17, 1981, in Naples, Italy. His father, Barney Walker, was a naval officer and his mother, Sandra Polkow Walker, was a former opera singer and a therapist.
Doug Walker studied film in Northern Illinois University and majored in Communications. After finishing his college, he worked as a janitor and later as an illustrator to earn a living. He has a brother named Rob Walker, who is an executive producer and creator of the web series “Nostalgia Critic." He has also acted and co- written in many of Dough’s critic videos.
His grandfather was a specialist in frozen foods, and he created a filling for pies with no sugar crystallization.
Doug got married to Robin Poage on June 15, 2012. He currently resides in Naperville, Illinois.
