Dominic DeAngelis

Dominic DeAngelis was born on August 19, 1993, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Richard and Debbie DeAngelis. He is their only child. As with any other youth who grew up in the early 1990s and 2000s, he witnessed the advent and the rise of social media and wanted to be involved in it. Both of his parents have appeared in his content several times.

Dominic DeAngelis set up his YouTube channel under the username The KansascityStarz in October 2009 but did not post any content until February 2010. His first video was titled ‘Sprint/Super Bowl Phone- A- Friend Michael Strahan’ and it was just over three and a half minute long. Even in those early days, his videos were definitively comedic in nature. Over the course of the next few years, DeAngelis built up a loyal group of followers with various types of videos. He did comedy sketches, Q&As, and challenge videos. He also posted Chatroulette experience videos. Chatroulette is an online chat website that connects people with random strangers from all over the world. He would record his video conversations with people, mostly women, on the website and post them on his YouTube channel. These videos significantly contributed to his rising popularity.

In time, he began to get hundreds of thousands of views per video. His most viewed video on the channel is ‘What It's Like To Date A Twin’. Posted in June 2016, the video has garnered over 3.8 million views to date. His other popular videos are ‘Tattoo Roulette Ft. Zane Hijazi, Heath Hussar, Romeo Lacoste & Corinna Kopf’ (3.7 million views), ‘Tattoo Roulette 2 Ft. JC Caylen, Scotty Sire, Toddy Smithy’ (2.36 million views), and ‘Hijacking Each Other's Tinders (JC Caylen & Dom DeAngelis)’ (2.34 million views).

DeAngelis has recently started collaborating with various members of the incredibly popular YouTube group known as the Vlog Squad. He appeared in the web series ‘Prank U’ in 2015. In 2017, he was featured as a guest in an episode of ‘Apologies in Advance with Andrea Russett’.

In November 2015, DeAngelis posted the personal mobile number of his photographer friend Joseph “JJ” Hernandez on his Twitter handle. It was never explicitly clarified whether it was an accident or if he did it intentionally. After JJ’s phone was inundated with calls and texts, he found out what happened. In response, he posted DeAngelis’ number. Eventually, DeAngelis declared that they were never friends, which shocked JJ.

In June 2018, he uploaded a video titled ‘Roasting Our YouTube Friends’, which was a collaborative effort with Lauren Giraldo. In it, they roasted some of their YouTube friends, including Andrea Russett. When Russett found out about it, she was not happy, as DeAngelis and Giraldo had alluded to her past relationship with Kian Lawley. She stated that DeAngelis was “desperate for views”. When his fans told her that she was overreacting, she responded by saying that no one had to be constantly reminded of their past relationships.
