DJ Khaled initially started to learn how to be a disco jockey in his parent’s garage at 13 years of age. While in New Orleans, he started to do networking with rap artists like Lil Wayne and Birdman. Later, he moved to Miami to become a DJ and Luther Campbell boosted his disc jockey career by making him a regular DJ for WEDR’s The Luke Show. With his growing popularity, he went on to make his first official mixtape followed with many proper albums which became commercial hits. His first solo album named “Listennn….the Album” released by Kooch Records became a moderate hit ranking 12th position in Billboard Hot 2000.
Thereafter, he made many other albums in collaboration with rappers like T.I, Fat Joe, Akon, Birdman, & Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Big Boi, Young Jeezy , Busta Rhymes, T Pain, Fabulous, P. Diddy, Jadakiss, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dog, Jay Z titled “We Taking Over”, “I’m So Hood”, “All I Do Is Win”, “I’m on One”, “Out Here Grinding”, “I Got the Keys” and “I Changed a Lot” from 2007 to 2016. These albums either got nominated or won the BET hip hop awards and also received gold and platinum certifications.
In July 2016, DJ Khaled released his ninth studio album called “Major Key” after signing a management deal with Jay-Z. This album became the first to reach number one position on Billboard 200. He also won the DJ of the Year consecutively for 2007 and 2008 and won MVP of the Year as well as Hustler of the Year in 2015. Further, DJ Khaled also won Best Video award in 2007 for his album “We Takin’ Over (under Gill Green direction)”.
D J Khaled went on to release the first single of the album “Grateful” titled “Shining” (a Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles collaboration) in 2017 and it became quite popular. The second single of the album “I’m the One” put him in the top 100 position of celebrities with others like Quavo, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Andy Kellman and Chance the Rapper and received 53.9 million U.S. streams.
His ninth album titled “Major Key” is undoubtedly one of his best works. Khaled’s new album in collaboration with three R&B’s brightest sensations like Trey Songz, Future and Jeremih has also gained a lot of popularity.
DJ Khaled was born in New Orleans, on 26th November, 1975. His parents are from Palestine and were musicians who played Arabic music. After migrating to New Orleans with only 20 $, they had to literally sell clothes from their van to fend for the family.
DJ Khaled did start to attend a public school named Dr. Philips High but couldn’t pursue further as his family incurred massive financial problems.
DJ Khaled and his fiancée Nicole Tuck (unofficial manager of DJ Khaled) became parents to a healthy baby boy named Ashad Tuck Khaled on 23rd October 2016. He kept the Snapchat rolling during the delivery of his little baby and kept on playing cuts of his album “Major Key” throughout the labour.
DJ Khaled wore a red nose on TV ‘S “Red Nose Day Special” with celebrities like Ben Affleck, Paul Rudd, Orlando Bloom and Jack Black for fund raising cause to financially help under- privileged children.
