This no-nonsense and focussed game designer began his journey with the American video game development company, ‘Treyarch’, soon after he earned his graduation from college in 1997. As the Studio Design Director of the company, he was responsible for creation of multiplayer in the first-person shooter video game ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ in 2008, then in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ in 2010 followed by ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ in 2012 and thereafter in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ in 2015. His head model was applied in developing a multiplayer character model in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’; a soldier is named Vonderhaar in ‘Call of Duty: World at War’; while a setup bot in both ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ and ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ is named ‘DVonderhaar’.
Ranked as the second most popular video games designer in the United States, Vonderhaar has also made contributions as assistant in other games prior to developing the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise some of which are ‘Shanghai: Second Dynasty’ and ‘Heavy Gear II’ in 1999, and ‘OO7: Quantum Solace’ in 2008. The popularity of ‘Call of Duty’ franchise has seen a steep rise in his net worth that according to reports is estimated at around $10 million while sources reckon his annual salary to be $3 million. At present, he is considered the unofficial Community Manager of ‘Treyarch’ and counted among the leading players of the company along with John Rafacz, Dave Anthony and Mark Lamia.
He received death threats in 2013 following issue of a new patch for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ which tweaks the firing rate of many of the weapons in multiplayer mode thus causing dissatisfaction among the fans. This ace game designer is also quite popular in social media where he boasts of having more than a million followers in his Twitter account.
Not much is known about the personal life of this renowned game designer. He was born on September 8, 1972, in Arizona, United States and attended ‘Loveland High School’ and thereafter ‘The Cincinnati College of Business’ where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in 1997. Presently he resides in Santa Monica, California.
